The sound of glasswear I've ran combination's of the two ever since SS started. No problems! And yes, I still am. I've never had a tube amp blow a speaker either. I've lost count of the number of the speakers that were blown with SS power amps. I use fuses for my speake...
Two things about tubes Pardon typos.
Two things about tubes Do the tubes gear need a pre-heat time before starting to listening to ???I start listening to a tube amp when I first turn it on, and it sounds good. After 20 minutes or so, it seems to reach it's best sound.Do the tubes are noise and able to pro...
MC loading at 47K Here is the Manley Steelhead manual. You could check out their options.[http://www.manleylabs.com/PDF/HIFI_Manuals/Hi-Fi/STEELHEAD.pdf]
MC loading at 47K The option leaves the OP of this thread to choose any cartridge he would like. We're not saying he needs to do this. He is not stuck with 47k only, in other words.
6L6 tubes for midrange horns, any thoughts? Horns were made for tubes. I think just about any tube has the edge over SS when paired with horns.
MC loading at 47K That's the idea. I looked around for pics, and couldn't find any that were good enough to make your own from. Same link.[http://www.audiokarma.org/forums/showthread.php?t=355531&highlight=parallel+loading]
MC loading at 47K Yikes, All of my posts. I must have had to much coffee.
MC loading at 47K This calculator will give you an idea. Add 47000(47K) and 1000,will give you 979.17 ohms. Don't use comas with it. The things like this on the net sure makes it easier. Link[http://www.1728.com/resistrs.htm]
MC loading at 47K My 47k statement being high is for MC cartridges that use lower resistance loading only.
MC loading at 47K If you do add a lower value on, 47k is so high, you may not even need to pay any attention to it being there, especially adding something on like 1k(1000 ohms), or less. Be careful if you use the clip idea, make sure they're not touching anything ...
SS against Tube Preamp It's still hard to say that combo will work. Those amps you heard, if they were "tubed power-amps", I don't think a combo SS/tube would do the same. Maybe a just a little taste of it, but not much.
MC loading at 47K I think the best thing is to see what others use for loading the cartridge you like, then get some cheap resistors from RS, or whatever place you could, and experiment with different values. The alligator clip idea should be OK. Just make sure you...
SS against Tube Preamp Dvjorge, I myself not a dealer, cannot say what you will like. Everyone who posted here most likely has a completely different system and taste for their equipment. If I mix tube and SS, I mostly prefer SS preamp, and tube power amps. I have on oc...
MC loading at 47K I put the link there for Lindisfarne, and others to see what the OP has to work with. |
