Is bi amping really a trade off?
each channel may be seeing 16 ohms nominalThis was in my first post and in error. I was thinking the highs are easier to drive and may see less power when on a separate amp.
Is bi amping really a trade off?
Magfan, I haven't owned a B&W since they went toward metal dome tweeters, and I don't keep up with them to much anymore. I'm just thinking it is hard to put a set figure with too many variables. These three speakers will give totally different...
Is bi amping really a trade off?
Also, with the load shifting toward the low end, the OP said his "bass tightened up and went lower".
Is bi amping really a trade off?
11-17-11: MagfanWith a 4khz crossover, at least 80% of the power required for 'normal' music is below that frequency. I think it varies a lot depending on the speakers impedance curve, besides the music, and crossover point. Every speaker amp and ...
Is bi amping really a trade off?
If I'm looking at the right amp on the net, the PA-5800 is a 5 channel. If your using 4 of these channels, I can see the volume and wattage drop. This would be due to a lighter load on each channel of the amp. I believe each channel will be puttin...
Testing a GZ-37 tube
I think these are ok to try. It's hard as the sources from Europe and UK are a little different values, plus different specs from different brands in some cases. I hope these will work. PX25, CV1040, VR40, PP5/400, if your tester has a setting for...
Can anyone recommend a better rectifier tube?
11-14-11: DodgealumI'm trying to persuade Sophia Electric to make a 5AR4/GZ34 rectifier tube that would replace the Mullard NOS in my Modwright LS100. Just to be on the safe side, don't try a 5AR4 in an amp that calls for a 5R4. The 5R4 can handle...
Testing a GZ-37 tube
Looking on the net shows them (CV378/GZ37) as the same. If you don't have the settings on your other testers, using the 5AR4/GZ34 will give close, but not exact readings I believe.
RFI from steel TV bracket?
Possibly, the interconnects to the amp aren't shielded and picking it up(?) or, if this TV is a Plasma, they do give more interference.
Do you use variable speed on your turntable?
Pardon the grammar.
Do you use variable speed on your turntable?
If all their planning on doing is eliminating the error correction every night, I don't think anyone will notice except those who still use synchronous clocks. If this is the case, we have that error every day now.
Which is more accurate: digital or vinyl?
11-07-11: UnsoundHifihvn, no, not unless the analog tape's sampling is very much larger than microscopic.Unsound (System | Threads | Answers | This Thread)After thinking about it more, we do hear the hiss from audio tape, even on the masters. I ac...
I have a AC Regenerator. Get dedicated line too?
Alonski, that would be in reference to the comment made stating they regenerate the power, not make it perfect. And it appears that some believe a regenerators output would be influenced by its input. Also, an upgraded power cord should be used be...
I have a AC Regenerator. Get dedicated line too?
They do recommend a dedicated 30 amp line for the model #3000. Being what it is capable of giving out what it does, that sure makes sense. Getting something for nothing would put it in the Perpetual Motion category. [http://www.purepoweraps.com/pd...
I have a AC Regenerator. Get dedicated line too?
I guess someone needs to tell Pure Power their site is wrong. A power cord that's the same gauge wire won't change any current an amp draws. Link.[http://www.purepoweraps.com/regen.htm]Also, either my sight is going bad, or they misprinted this co...
