What's simplest effective record cleaning process
I like a carbon fiber brush, followed by a quick treatment of GruvGlide. I use the "Hunt Decca" brand of brush. This system has worked great for me for over 15 years, and you can hear the difference.Hope this helps, Happy Listening, hififile
Anyone use a Pledge "Grab-it" on their vinyl?
I used the dawn & carefully washed the 2 affected records. After they dried I reapplied Gruv-Glide (my usual treatment). I'm not sure I got all the Pledge product off. I think I will stick to just plain old Gruv-Glide which I've used for nearl...
Anyone use a Pledge "Grab-it" on their vinyl?
After reading your post I tried it. "DON'T DO IT"!!!I ruined 2 perfectly good records. It smeared the sound, left a film, and I now have sludge on my Goldring Eroica.I intentionally did not use my best/favorite records. I'm always open to try new ...

Gruv Glide and CD's
Hi Chuck,I applied Gruv Glide to both sides of the CD. It works so well at removing static on records, and others have recommended it on CD's, so I tried it.It is very inexpensive too. I did 250 CD's with 1 kit.I have not done any type of scientif...

Why do Maggies need a lot of power?
Dear Ake,here is an assessment from my practical and first hand experiences.I bought the Audio refinement Complete (50 watts into 8) for my Maggie 1.6's. Good clear sound, but full orchestral works at moderate levels were lacking, and low organ no...

Similar to both Sean & Jphilips. I use vpi & always gruv-glide. I've used the gruv-glide since 1983 on over 2000 records and always get excellent, consistant results.Hope this helps, happy listening!hififile
Cleaning vinyl - am I using this thing right???
If static is your main issue, I can highly recommend Gruv-Glide. Nothing I've used (to include zero-stat, LAST, etc.) removes, prevents or neutralizes static as well as Gruv-Glide. We took various field effect meters & the like and measured it...
Cleaning vinyl - am I using this thing right???
I use the same regimen as "4yanx", and it always works very well for me. A VPI cleaning followed by Gruv-Glide treatment sounds the best. And I can definitely say I hear an improvement with the Gruv-Glide.I have taken 2 of the same records and don...

I owned the Proceed amp 2 for a couple of years with my 1.6's, and then bought the McIntosh MA6450. Both pieces were good. I sold the MAC MA6450 and bought the McIntosh MA-6500 and McIntosh CD player. My 1.6's never sounded better. I'm keeping all...
