Why Linear Tracking never took off?
I currently own a Revox linear tracker. I bought it in 1981 and it still plays nicely. Mounting aftermarket cartridges is difficult, and the "String Tensioners" have probably stretched to a degree. When new this unit was a joy to use and sounded g...

Record Cleaner Side Effects?
Cleaning is very important and works for me. A system as simple as a "Decca" type brush followed by "Gruv Glide" has been my standard for nearly twenty years. I can't think of a single record that has been degraded. For really dirty records Keith M...

New Mcintosh products at CES???
I went to the McIntosh suite in the Alexis Park. They used the "Boardroom" (entire floor) just as they did last year. I saw their new 400 watt stereo amp. I also heard their 2 new speakers hooked up to the new amp and the 851 DVD/CD player, in a s...

Best amp to drive B&W N805's
Before you make your purchase, be sure to audition the McIntosh 6900 or 6500 integrated amps. I found them to be superb performers with the b&w 805 speakers. The build quality, and features, and resale value are also excellent. Many Mac dealers...

What's simplest effective record cleaning process
I like a carbon fiber brush, followed by a quick treatment of GruvGlide. I use the "Hunt Decca" brand of brush. This system has worked great for me for over 15 years, and you can hear the difference.Hope this helps, Happy Listening, hififile
