Bi amp pros out there I could use some help! First time Bi Amping...
@readargos That’s why I bought the Magnepan 20.1, my dealer told me I literally got the last pair assembled. The new Maggies have their crossovers built in, I always dreamed of having an active set up and bi-amping so the 20.7 was out. The differe...
Speakers under $50k that rival $200k+ speakers?
Many have noted, Maggies rival many Uber expensive speakers. I think you would be doing yourself a disservice not to listen to them. I listen to symphonic music full tilt on my Maggies, which is much more demanding than rock and could blow out the...

In the spirit of KISS as others have, here is a simple way to have more control and get as complicated as your OCD allows, add a Mini DSP 2x8 Active Crossover. It makes bi-amping super simple and you can integrate your sub swarm by ear, or get sop...

I agree with Eric. I’ve heard a number of mega buck systems and they had their sound signatures unique to them and they all sounded fantastic. I also think there is a law of diminishing returns with performance and cost. If you’re creative you can...
Why the fascination with subwoofers?
@noble100      Nice thread everyone. Sorry my work is crazy so I don’t check the site as often as I would like. Just had my daughter graduate college yesterday and she did it in three years with a foreign exchange in Japan. Pretty excited about th...
Benchmark AHB2 Amplifier, opinions and competition
FYI I’ve been listening to my system for a couple of weeks after vertically bi-amping rather than horizontal bi-amping. There is defiantly more punch and immediacy! My wife commented on it. :)@ssnkssnk the Speakon connections work great. Thanks,Steve

+1 @millercarbon The wide unknown is a fun place. Someone was asking about a cheap good crossover, check out Mini DSP. With a digital crossover you get exact slopes and have the option of doing room correction with Room EQ Wizard and can have even...

Got it. Makes sense!- Steve
Benchmark AHB2 Amplifier, opinions and competition
Thanks George. I understand it completely and agree it should sound better. I’ve always had it arranged where one amp is playing the lows for both speakers and the other amp plays the highs. I think my idea was that both channels will have the sam...

Perhaps they are selling a ton of them because they just kick @ss and people are catching on. @mrdecibel Your suggestion is excellent advice. I don’t know why that never occurred to me. While I don’t have an issue with clipping, I like the princip...
Dual vs single sub
Hi Tim,    I have two Kinergetics SW-800s (each has five 10” Seas drivers in their own enclosures wired in parallel) driven by a Pass Labs X-250 and two SVS SB-16 Ultras in my room. I have an active set up using a Mac Mini maxed out with SSD drive...
Should an amp have a "personality"?
The nice thing about Audiogon is that you can get some nice used gear at a good price if your patient and ultimately sell your amp if it isn’t performing the way you want. As you’ve noted you’re interested in tubes. . . If your not listening at ea...
Dual vs single sub
I made my secondary subs coffee tables :) An inch thick piece of glass in top with a lamp and no one even knows they are speakers, the WAF went way up at that point. I agree with many above, four subs is the way to go, independently powered and si...

So great to hear you found a match, I'm listening now to a recording I haven't heard for years. I still get baffled at how clear and articulate these amps are, the musicians have come alive in my room. Yes some recordings are exposed for being poo...
Digital Room Correction For Speakers
Hi Sam,    Try Room EQ, just remember your dealing with a multiheaded hydra. EQ is only part of the answer. The room is the problem and you may need more speakers to offset the standing waves in the room. Good Luck! Steve
