What format are most people using, and why? I have a Lynx 2 card in my computer. I also use the Manley Slam (a professional a to d, d to a dac) when I can borrow it. For computer out I go Adobe Audition to the Empirical Off ramp turbo to the Audiomeca Enkianthus X2 ( TRL modified)Dac.
What format are most people using, and why? I only use 24/96 when burning my vinyl onto the hard drive. Most of my cd's are burned at 16/44 and I don't like the effects of the up converters I have tried.
What format are most people using, and why? Wave files. 24/96 wave files for all my analog recordings.Hard drive space is cheap and getting cheaper. I want my recordings preserved in the best format.
Best Source for Tubes I agree with Thorman. Audiogon is a good source for tubes, just stay with the sellers that have a lot of nice feedback. You could probably find them cheaper elsewhere, but that's a good way to get a stack of old, microphonic, or just pain bad soun...
Does 24/96 make a difference I actually loaded the software yesterday and have been changing back and forth. To me the 24/96 has better spacial qualities and a larger soundstage, while the 16/44 has more body to voices and instruments. The other very important thing to mentio...
New David Gilmour record:any feedback? I just picked it up today. Definitely Floydish. I already think it is Gilmour's best solo yet. Now I'm bummed I missed his live tour. Seems nicely recorded. A can't miss cd.
Vintage systems- anyone else? Most of my vintage gear has worked it's way downstairs to my gym. There I have a Dynaco preamp feeding 2 Dynaco mark 3 mono amps, going to an original set of Bose 901's. I use an old Mcintosh tube tuner and a Kinergetics cd 40 as my source. It sti...
AUDIO RESEARCH PH5 I have about 40 hours in mine, and I still feel it is getting smoother with more hours. I have been doing a lot of tube rolling, so maybe the tubes are still breaking in.
Preamp Deal of the Century my response was to abill about the 12b4a's he needed
Preamp Deal of the Century I have a pair, cyoyed even, brand new. Shoot me an e mail with your info and you can have them. I moved up to the Cabernet, so I don't have any need for them
XM Radio - Anyone Getting It Through DirectTV? I'm so jazzed!! I just tried my Direct TV I am getting xm radio too. Now , my big question is how do I get digital out to my dac. My standard issue direct tv box has no digital out on the back. Thanks for the great post, I would never have looked ...
Any GREAT "sleeper" amps? I am partial to tubes, but the old Dynaco mark 3's are really nice if you buy them after the caps and tubes have been updated.
Will computer to DAC replace transports and cdp's? Hi Jeremy, Assuming we can burn the info off the cd in a bit perfect manner (many programs can),then what you have is two mediums with the same data. One is a 50 cent piece of plastic that is prone to scratches, in a poor clamped transport that lo...
Will computer to DAC replace transports and cdp's? Remember computer transports aren't limited to 16/44, spin at a much higher speed than cd transports, don't loose any data (computers can't afford to loose data), don't have to have a correction circut to guess what is correct. They are like stere...
Will computer to DAC replace transports and cdp's? I bought my off ramp turbo used for $750. and sold two digital cables for $700. So it wasn't too bad. It did make over 500 cd's sound MUCH better and I needed to play all the vinyl I ripped at 24/96 (my linx won't pass 24/96 out digitally). We Au... |
