Best Digital Input from PC to DAC The Empirical Audio Freeway 2 takes usb out of the computer and brings it to the Dac of your choice. There are other ( cheaper) alternatives, but you are making some great choices with Kimber, FLAC, etc. , so I think you are really close to great ...
Man Cave or No? Because some people don't understand why the stereo needs to be on 7 straight days to burn in my new ic's. Because 16 Realtraps might not be enough. Because tubes and flying footballs don't mix. WE ALL NEED MANCAVES!!
Review: Ming Da MC-2A3 Tube preamp Fantastic post! I always have great respect for anyone willing to get " under the hood " to upgrade a component. I too love that huge soundstage that only octal based pre's seem to offer ( I am looking at a Lumi and a Supratek Cabernet right now)....
whats the best addition u have bought for system Maybe think about going compter audio and build up you music library. Your system seems nicely balanced and you might have to spend a lot more money to make a small difference in sound. With all your cd's available at the touch of a mouse it will ...
Long Run From Computer to Stereo I found placing the computer next to the stereo and running long monitor cables and wireless mouse and keyboard worked great for me. That way you get short audio cables and no noise from the computer next to your listening position.
Low capacitance interconnect?? Empirical Audio Holographics. They post their capacitance info on there website.
Jazz artists for late starter. Chet Baker (Chet), Miles Davis at the Blackhawk, Any Art Pepper, Ben Webster (soulville), Lee Morgan(Leeway), Charlie Mingus (tijuana moods), Jessica Williams ( Live at Yoshi's 2), Red Norvel Trio. CAUTION!!!! Once you start collecting jazz, you c...
Xerxes .20 or Michell Orbe I went from a SOTA Star to a Linn LP 12, to the Orbe. The Orbe is the best fit for my system by a large margin.
Cartridges for rear of stage orchestral resolution My Lyra Titan i does the rear of the soundstage very well and you can follow each instrument in it's own space, but I am not sure it gives the full bloom of the orchestra as well as other top cartridges.
Tom Petty fans I saw them in Santa Cruz the other night. Their live show ROCKS! Tom Petty plays bass guitar as he did with them back in the old days. Nice driving music.
PC: Synergistic Tesla, Lessloss, Transparent MM Liudas, A lot of Audiogoner's try to buy quality gear knowing if we make a change in the future it won't hurt too bad. John may be right, my two cords that I just bought are now worth around $300. I don't understand the rational that, even though ...
PC: Synergistic Tesla, Lessloss, Transparent MM I agree. Bad marketing now turned the used price of this cable to around $200 at best. Great for us who just paid $500. It will be hard to trust any reviews now knowing they were bought.
Wireless for the Keyboard, Not the Computer? I am thinking of moving my computer into the next room. I tried my bluetooth mouse and keyboard and they were still working from a distance of 60 feet. I only need 10 feet to get it into the next room, so my standard usb cable from the Freeway 2 t...
best transport for ... 2008? I switched to computer hard drives about 5 years ago and am thrilled with the results. The key for me was using an Empirical Offramp turbo 2 ( or Freeway 2).We are on the cusp of several new sampleing rates, many hi rez downloads, and free upsampl...
Wireless for the Keyboard, Not the Computer? that's exactly what I do. I have a wireless blue tooth mouse and keyboard, but hard wired the monitor with a 28 foot monitor extention cord over by my listening chair. It really makes it nice when you only want to hear a couple tracks off various ... |
