Best Sinatra...? I prefer his earlier stuff on Capitol, that's what's in the MoFi box set. Some of the later stuff on Reprise is pretty good including "at the Sands," but overall the Reprise is much more uneven than the Capitol.
Ground Loop Humm/Buzz from Television A TV can generate a LOT of electro-magnetic garbage that could be picked up by your other equipment. It may not be easy to do but putting some distance between the TV and the rest of your stuff, at least temporarily, would tell you. Good excuse to...

Why does this Biwire set-up not work? What do you mean by "not right?"
Hardwiring? I am confused. How would you do away with separate cables unless you built everything into the speaker cabinet? These systems exist, they are typically called boomboxes, but the few I have listened to had some serious shortcoming.
Jolida 302B low frequency hum It's a ground loop. Type that into the search engine here and you will find a lot of information.
Stands make a huge difference with ProAc Yes, stands are very, very, important in getting the most out of a monitor. I don't think you are going to more bass though. You should get tighter bass with a solid stand and it may seeem like more since it will easier to follow a bass line if it...

Transformer hum? It doesn't matter if the dimmer is on the same circuit. Everything is tied together back at the breaker box. The dimmer on the light in my stove hood upstairs made a balanced line conditioner hum in my basement. If you are in an apartment your nei...
TT set up in the Bay Area You could try the Analog Shop in San Jose. They are very good but I don't know how thrilled they would be to work on something you bought from Audio Advisor. I disagree that you got a good deal if you can't get it to work correctly. Maybe you woul...
Transformer hum? You probably have noisy AC lines, which may be caused by light dimmers. Turn off everything in the house and see if goes away.Do a search on "transformer hum" for more ideas.
hifi as investment? While some items retain their used value (usually about 50% of retail) longer than others, as soon as the next generation of that item comes out they will drop in value. Since you can't really preditct when that will happen, I think your plan is f... |
