A Shocking Experience
If you use a grounding strip to discharge yourself, you can avoid the shock by carrying a metal object in your hand, like a nail. Touch the nail to the grounding strip and it will arc to the nail and you won't feel it. If you live in a cold climat...
rega planar 2 - platter won't turn
The belt could indeed be slipping, but possibly because the extra weight of the platter causes the spindle to lock up because it is dry and you need to lubricate it.
Who will survive? One last table til I die.
You have a fine analog system, and since Sota is still in business, why not contact them about about bringing your table up to current standards if it isn't already. Then purchase whatever parts they predict may wear out in the next 25 years (moto...
Recommended Tube Amp for Sonic Frontiers Line 3
This is impossible to answer since it is much more important to find an amp that is a good mate for your speakers.
I just puked
Mr Parrot, I fail to see the connection between the executives at Enron, who ripped off their stockholders by inflating corporate earnings, and my support of an individuals right to sell their music to whomever they please. Perhaps you could enlig...
Which Classic Componets Would You Collect?
While I would agree that the LP12 is a classic, it is hardly collectable in the sense that it will increase in value. There are just too many of them out there, 10 of them for sale here today
I just puked
Just because you viewed them as rebels doesn't give you the right to condemm them for making money from their artistic endeavors. The fact that they are artists (for the most part) doesn't mean they should have to pass up an opportunity to make so...
Help with very low noise, SS amp for La Scalas?
I've heard an Ayre Ax-7 integrated hooked up to Avantgarde Duos and it was dead quiet, very musical too. 60w@8ohms
How's This Sound ? - Cable Testing
Unclejeff is right on the money. Try them in conjuction with a good cabernet and it won't make much difference. I suggest Caymus, expensive but oh so nice.
I have a huge hump at 30Hz
Thanks again to everyone. I just built a passive 2 pole high pass filter to feed my sub. After playing around with different component values and the settings on the sub, I have gotten much closer to a flat response. I'm only up about 5 dB at 30Hz...
I have a huge hump at 30Hz
Thanks so far. I am measuring with my modified (Sean instructions) Radio Shack SPL meter and confirmed by a local dealer with a nice RTA.My room is treated with some damping but it is my understanding that 30 Hz is too low to be damped by any prac...
Amp blowing fuses
Sometimes fuses blow for no apparent reason. Maybe it was just a weak fuse. If you replaced the fuse with the same type and all is now well, I wouldn't worry about it. If it does it again then I would do as Jafox advised. I fail to see the logic i...
Great CDP with No volume control
I have an Ayre CX-7 running through a Syrah and it is very nice. Not exactly cheap, but cheaper than the others you listed.
A brzzzzz noise from transformer, is it normal?
Toriodal transformers are infamous for buzzing when fed dirty AC.
A brzzzzz noise from transformer, is it normal?
There are other reasons a transformer will buzz besides being defective. The mounting bolts may be loose. It may be buzzing because it is getting fed noise on the AC line from a dimmer. The dimmer on the light in my stove hood will cause a power c...
