Jitter reduction, best device?
Shadorne, that certainly fits with my findings. I intend to see if I can borrow a benchmark DAC or DACMagic in the next few weeks to see if the DIP makes a difference with a DAC with its own jitter reduction system. I would expect much less impact...
musical fidelity A5.5 - any opinion ?
If its anything like the A5 that preceded it, it'll be a cracker. A5 is one of the most musical CD players I've heard at the price point. Might also be worth listening to a Rega Saturn and the Primare CD31 which are both excellent players.
Speakers that work well with Onkyo M-588F/P-388F
I think you need to mention your budget as well as your listening preferences as otherwise you could get thousands of names thrown at you. For excellent imaging and a wide soundstage, I enjoy the Mordaunt-Short Performance 6 speakers (around $5k n...
Jitter reduction, best device?
Well I've now tried the Monarchy DIP Classic (non-upsampling) reclocking device with the Wadia 170i and the improvement in resolution was quite staggering - like the noise floor dropped significantly.I don't know if this is the result of a reducti...
What is the best analog sounding CD player $2000
Synergy is also important - what are the other components in your system? In my system (Musical Fidelity amp, MS Performance 6 speakers) the closest I've heard to the "non-digital" sound has been through an Audio Note DAC (1.1X Signature). You cou...
Floorstander suggestions to replace Usher S-520s..
Worth having a look at the KEF IQ series which I much prefer to B&W at this price point.
Isolation damping for furniture
Thanks for the responses. Beavis, the doors are maple and due to WAF definitely not an option to remove them from the cabinet.Photon46, I initially detected the problem you describe of the vibration at the interface of door and cabinet and have ma...
wadia i170 meassured jitter level
Where are these measurements? I am not saying the statement isn't true, I just have never read anything published. Your DIP experiment does raise legit questions.I located where I had read this and it was from Gordon Rankin on Audio Asylum who mea...
wadia i170 meassured jitter level
I think the facts are that the 170i has high jitter as this has been objectively measured. The extent to which this is audible, in my experience, depends on the DAC and its jitter reduction processes. My experience is the same as Brian's - I could...
Quality Budget RCA Interconnects
Best cheap interconnects I've tried are the Blue Jeans Cables and Signal cables - very good value IMHO.
wadia i170 meassured jitter level
Can't swear to this but I recall one reviewer stating the jitter was over 3,000ps which seems extroadinarily high. Based on the differences I heard when the Wadia was plugged directly into a non-reclocking DAC as opposed to having a reclocking DIP...
Review: Wadia 170i Transport Transport
Thanks Dave. I agree totally with your comments. Simply add a good quality DAC which reclocks and de-jitters the signal and you've got an excellent front end with tremendous flexibility through the iPod and Wadia. I'm glad to hear your experiences...
Integrated $500-1K for Classic Jazz
If you like the Musical Fidelity sound, I can also highly recommend the A300 which was the model above the A3. It delivers a very sweet 150 w/ch and can be had for under $1k 2nd hand. I previously had it driving $6k Mordaunt-Short Performance 6 sp...
Help a Newbie. Considering Usher Be 718's
The Ushers are great speakers, IMHO. I have a set in my 2nd system and they really sing on the end of a Musical Fidelity A300 amp (150W/ch). I previously tried them on the end of a 50 watt tube amp (Cayin) and it just didn't work so well, bass bec...
Jitter reduction, best device?
There's a very old (1996) article from Hi-Fi News on the Monarchy website where four "jitter-busters" were tested and measured. The Monarchy was apparently the only one that successfully reduced jitter. I'm sure that in 2009, the jitter reduction ...
