It isn't the bits, it's the hardware
It's not the accuracy, it is the lack of jitter and that has been possible and relatively cheap for some time. If you are feeding an async data stream, i.e. USB, wired ethernet, wifi, hard-driver, etc. then a basic oscillator with a decent power s...
It looks like a debate to me.
atmasphere, as someone who designs amps (for many applications), I cannot agree at all with your comment w.r.t. amount of feedback and sounds profile. There are far far too many other factors at play including open-loop bandwidth, compensation net...
Linear Power supplies for DACs...?
I can put an AM radio next to the usually poorly snubbed diodes of a big linear amplifier and hear things too, and usually much larger current spikes at 100/120Hz on the AC line.I would be far far more concerned about the power quality on the DC e...
Voltage question
If it has a switch mode power supply, odds are it will be okay at 120/60Hz, though if truly designed for 100V only (rare) it could have issues with component tolerances and fail early.  If it has a linear supply, you could overheat things.w.r.t. t...
You could work for any manufacturer, past or present...
Don't really buy into this fandom and realistically most of the audio companies listed are working on stuff way too "simple" to catch my interest so I am loathe to pick individuals. But, if I had to make a choice, I would take Burr-Brown and ADI i...

I find the louder the voice in the audio industry, the more likely the stripes are painted on.
