Origin live Cartridge Enabler - a review Purchasing an AT-ML 170 is not a problem at the moment Lew. Chakster just happens to have a very fine specimen for sale haha!Very lightly used.
advice for mono cartridge I don't think it is quite that simple Chakster. As I see it, all things being equal (which they never are unfortunately) there are simply more compromises to be made with mono cartridges than with stereo as a result of the 3 different types of groo...
Michell Gyrodec, main bearing lube Just two of their own proprietary oil. I believe essentially a thicker and thinner version of the same oil. The thinner (standard version I believe) is appropriate for the inverted bearing on the Gyro/Orbe. It appears they also sell the original L...
Michell Gyrodec, main bearing lube Not significantly different in doing an oil change on the older bearing and the newer inverted bearing (I've owned my Gyrodec since 1985 so have done multiple changes on both types of bearings) but the old style bearing would not be usable immedia...
Michell Gyrodec, main bearing lube It’s really not that difficult. Undo the knurled nut securing the platter to the top of the bearing housing and lift the platter straight up and off, using a thumb to press down on the spindle as you’re doing so. Then lift the top half of the bear...
Sussurro MkII and surface noise? Peter's OCL is without question, and by far, the most difficult stylus profile to dial in with respect to overall setup that I've ever had to deal with. Extremely sensitive to VTA in particular with respect to how noisy it will be in the groove bu...
Tonearms with no anti-skate adjustment Dover: My reference to it being "a big deal" with unipivots was really with respect to the importance of measuring VTF directly at record height with that type of arm. Very easy to be out/light .2 to .3 grams if measuring above record height with ...
Tonearms with no anti-skate adjustment Effects of tonearm geometry and mass distribution on the measurement of VTF :http://www.tnt-audio.com/sorgenti/in_balance_e.html There you go. Settled once and for all :)Not a big deal with many tone arms. But a very big deal with arms unipivots...
How long should a clearaudio maestro v2 last? Pretty sophisticated stylus profile on that cartridge, apparently the same as on the Goldfinger. I would think that, properly set up and playing clean vinyl, you should be able to get 1500-2000 hours out of that stylus.
Audio Additives Stylus Force Gauge inconstantcy As I stated above, the Canrong I used for 7 years that cost $50 10 years ago was "lab quality instrumentation". Clearly. And considerably more resolving and accurate than the Winds. One might argue, I suppose, that I just got lucky and got a good ...
Audio Additives Stylus Force Gauge inconstantcy Personally, I have not had problems with the Canrong scales over the years. These are the scales commonly referred to as the cheap, Chinese, rebranded etc. The first one I bought had .000 grams resolution and I think I paid about $50 about 10 year...
Grace F14 MONO cartridges and styli I'm not sure what I'm missing either. Just totally confused at this stage. Thought you were asking for guidance in hooking it up and you're already hooked up.
Grace F14 MONO cartridges and styli http://www.vinylengine.com/turntable_forum/gallery/image/11746/medium Yes. Looking at the headshell from the front, right side up (not upside down!) you want red to upper right and green to lower right. White upper left and blue lower left. Lookin...
Grace F14 MONO cartridges and styli Chakster:Try this. But be careful with that cartridge. If it has fairly high tracking forces and you cannot establish whether it has vertical compliance, I would not advise you to be playing any mono reissues that have been cut with a stereo cutte...
Audio Additives Stylus Force Gauge inconstantcy That is a very big discrepancy; it’s normal to have some minor discrepancy with any of these gauges and especially those that have 3 decimal point resolution but that is huge. Also, try to hit the centre of the dot each time.In light of the fact t... |
