Phono stage w/automatic Load-Impedanance. A lot of back and forth going on here but I'm not sure it's related at all to what the OP posted on. I've used the Aqvox happily for about 7 years now. I had a chance to audition it and there was clearly something pretty special going on (at least...
Phono stage w/automatic Load-Impedanance. Just a clarification. The Aqvox was NOT designed for the MC 20 Super. Aqvox only started marketing cartridges a number of years after they had introduced their phono preamp and it is only speculation on my part that their cartridges are based on t...
Phono stage w/automatic Load-Impedanance. The Phonata operates in current mode with MC cartridges. Not anything really new here. I've been using an Aqvox for about 7 years now which operates similarly. The loading is not fixed. From the Stereophile review on the Aqvox:"MC cartridges may p...
Breaking of Furutech's AC connectors...?? Fridge or freezer will do much more and much more quickly. It's not the consistent running but rather the initial surges when the compressors kick in that really get the job done. A very good way of really burning in power cables (short of using a...
Breaking of Furutech's AC connectors...?? If you don't want to go through the break-in, take the receptacle and exchange it with the receptacle that your refrigerator or chest freezer runs on. Run the freezer or fridge into each half of the receptacle for about 2 weeks (one month in total...
New SDS settings If you're getting good results with 72v on 33 I'd be inclined to leave it there. 72v may be low (in terms of all electronic speed control with the SDS) for 45. Based on this:http://db.audioasylum.com/mhtml/m.html?forum=vinyl&n=974466&highl...
New SDS settings How does it sound running at the lower voltage? If it sounds good, personally I would leave it. In theory (and in practice in my case), the lower you can get the voltage without compromising speed stability the greater the reduction in motor noise...
Denon DP-35F and the Denon DL-103 Cartridge I'd suggest increasing tracking force to 2.6 grams-sound will become more focused and controlled. More like real music less like hi-fi. That's based on spending a lot of time with the 103R.Around the 15-20 hour mark is pretty magical, at least wit...
Kimber 8TC beater? http://www.mogamicable.com/category/bulk/speaker_cable/conventional_configuration/
Kimber 8TC beater? "Not quite identical, HDM. 3104 is four conductor, so one can shotgun each plus/minus per channel to lower resistance, etc."I believe resistance would remain unchanged but capacitance would be lowered marginally. You'd have to compare to see wheth...
Kimber 8TC beater? I should make a correction to my post above. Mogami 3103 is actually about 1/8 the cost of Kimber 8TC. And, as I also mentioned earlier, exactly the same cable as 3104 but without the ability to bi-wire.
Kimber 8TC beater? Mogami 3104 will do it as Loftarasa pointed out above. If you don't require biwire capability, Mogami 3103 (which is the same wire as 3104 but single wire only) will also do it at about 1/5 of the price of 8TC, which I used for many years.
MOGAMI CABLES W3103 It's a very good cable that punches well above it's price, at least in my case. I replaced Kimber 8TC terminated with Kimber Postmaster spades with Mogami 3103 terminated with Vampire HDS spades as I felt the Mogami sounded better and more natural...
RCA to XLR adapter vs buy a balanced cable Definitely buy the balanced phono lead. Your cartridge is a balanced device. If you have a balanced phono preamp chances are it will sound quite a bit better on the balanced input/output now that you have a balanced input on your preamp providing ...
Is it possible for a record to be too loud? If the phono stage doesn't overload until 17.75 mV then that should not be an issue as a 1 mV cartridge is probably maxing out around 10-12 mV on peaks. What about the phono stage overloading the preamp ahead of it? Seems that is a not an unusual ... |
