Schiit yggdrasil + Less Is More vs. Denafrips Pontus II
P.S. I don’t notice any loss of sound on the beginning of tracks ever. The relays only click when changing sampling rates and it’s very quiet. I really barely notice it. Maybe because the Yggy has a bigger, more solid case than other models. There...
Schiit yggdrasil + Less Is More vs. Denafrips Pontus II
I own the Yggdrasil Less Is More and upgraded from a very highly modified Cary DAC-100.  The DAC-100 was very antiquated but with bypassing they’re buffer circuitry and coming directly off the Wavelength DAC board with a high end cable soldered di...
Vinyl static ionizers who's used them?
lewn you are exactly correct. I’ve been in and out of the audio business during my career and have worked for a few big name audio companies.   I’ve seen companies do exactly what you are saying.  Even to the point of buying a cheap ready made pro...

Vinyl static ionizers who's used them?
I’ve been interested in finding an inexpensive answer for the static issue with records.  I have an original Discwasher desist gun which a slow process and a hassle.  I was looking at these ionizing fans that are used for electronics.  “Ionizing A...
what to do with a stereo that needs repair
As stager mentioned amps like this are not that complicated for a decent tube technician to repair.  I’ve worked for a couple high end companies, one of which was a well known for their tube gear.  Unless the output transformer is bad which is ver...
Warming up equipment
mbmi is also totally correct on speakers. Especially if you’ve modded your crossover with large Polypropylene caps instead of the small electrolytic caps.   Not to mention the large flat copper air core inductors.  These all come into play.  My D...
Warming up equipment
Your salesman and cleeds are correct.  Don’t turn on the preamp with the amp already on.  It “could” send a transient (thump or pop) to the speakers that can cause damage to them.   Not sure what preamp you have but working in audio manufacturing ...
