"The Yes Album" Remasters The AcousTech reissue of "Fragile" from 2006 is surprisingly good, on vinyl I mean. I bought it because I hadn´t the original UK press back then.
Canadian rock and roll Frank Marino, just listened Mahogany Rush IV and Live very loud after a very long time and was blown away ! That sound of his Gibson SG is cosmic and his manly voice !

Best Live Recording on LP Is the GENESIS LIVE reissue on Classic Records really better dynamically than the original UK edition on Charisma ? It´s pity a double album never was released as it would have included a powerful version of "Supper´s Ready" :/
Best Live Recording on LP It´s a pity Pink Floyd never released a double live album from their most creative period (Ummagumma - Meddle - The Moon) era... So the BBC recordings mentioned are really interesting. Thanks for the wink :)

THE most sonically dissappointing (lp) you own of great music? "Passion, Grace & Fire" was so dry and lame (no fire) back in the day that I sold it right away (in 1984) and never looked back. "Friday Night in San Francisco" live is truly fire, sounds quite incredible even on a cheap German reissue. I wond...
THE most sonically dissappointing (lp) you own of great music? "Tales of Topographic Oceans" Warner Bros. 2013 remaster ? To me it sounds so lame that it must be digitally redone. The AcousTech "Fragile" is surprisingly good, it must be an analog remaster ? Of course, the original albums are the best. Jon And...
Furutech Vinyl flattener or the ORB ? Agree with Dave. Vinyl Flat with Groovy Pouch does the job. I usually go straight to 4 hour heating and it is enough, unless a record has a sharp warp. For very heavy records (like today´s 180 g) I give 5 - 6 hours treatment. As Downunder says, fla...

What's the deal with idler turntables and do they have a place in modern HiFi? Stylus drag is surprisingly strong, platter´s very high mass helps but does not eliminate it. |
