Bluesound Node (2021) PS upgrade to Teddy Pardo; is it worth it? I did the LHY full power supply upgrade kit, $275. LPS and board. The PS has a nice led display of the DC volts. Product seems to very high quality. Easy peasy install. I'm using the Node N130 version as a streamer only. Noticed a definite i...
Starting an HT System for Cable TV viewing My TV is a 32" CRT HDTV, no HDMI hook ups. It's a few years old. My room is pretty big, 13W x 22L x 7H with the TV on the short wall. My budget is "used". What ever I can get a good deal on.
speakers for krell 400xi I have the CDM9 NT's mated with my 400 and for good recordings, the system sounds great. Poor recordings, not so much. You sorta get out of it what you put into it. Compressed rock sounds like....well, you can guess. Well recorded jazz, heaven. I ...
Help: Order of importance: Pre, Amp, DAC, speakers IMO the components that have the most effect on sound are (in order)Speakers, amp, pre, source/DAC (these are the same thing, really).
Help My Krell amp is too big. Bust out the back of your stereo cabinet. Have a carpenter bust it out and expand it into the stud wall, there's atleast 4" hidden back there. I've seen it done for TV's, why not your amp?
Best player for Poorly Recorded redbook CDs? I agree on the Jolida 100 as well for lousy CD's. Reduces that "wall of sound" effect from the omnipresent compression they use in modern music now a days. But, in quiet, well recorded passages, my Rotel 1072 sounded better. Clearer and more detai...
ARCAM vs ROTEL I can't compare the Rotel vs. the Arcam, as I've never heard the Arcam. But I own the Rotel and I wanted to upgrade my front end. I picked up a Bel Canto Dac2. I performed side by side comparisons between the two units. The Dac2 is twice as expens...
Bookshelf speakers $2500 or less B&W 805's. Used for much less than that. Liquid and smooth.
Anyone know how good MHDT Labs Paradisea DAC is? I am seriously considering one of these. I tried out a DAC2 with my Rotel 1072 as the transport. The Rotel held it's own remarkably well against the Bel Canto, so I eventually sold the DAC2. The improvement was only marginal, it wasn't worth 750 b...
Five Monoblocks vs. One 5-Channel Amp Go for the monoblocks. They look cooler. ;-)
MOON I-5 versus KRELL KAV 400XI I've got the Krell. My impressions. Clear and detailed, glasslike clarity. A little cold. Papery vocals. Solid, refined and taut bass. Will give you what's on the recording. GIGO. Endless clean power. Never runs out of steam. Clips at 280 wpc. Rat...
After Linn Genki.... I'm looking a solution..... Bel Canto Dac2. Around $700 used. I had one, it was pretty nice. But only ever so slightly better than my Rotel CDP-1072. I sold the Bel Canto.
NAD Quality? My experience. I bought a NAD referb product about 25 years ago (at least!) and it proved to be defective. I returned it and bought a NEW piece of NAD gear in exchange(the venerable 3020 integrated) which I still have and STILL WORKS FINE!Even tho...
Krell KAV 400xi, peak current You won't have any problem driving those B&W's with the 400xi. I've got the B&W CDM9 NT's and my Krell drives them easily w/o any hint of struggle. Remember, the Krell peaks at 280 wpc before clipping (according to Stereophile, if I recall...
Does the Krell KAV-400Xi overheat? No heating problems with mine, I've had it for a couple years now. It does run class A in the lower output range, so yeah, it'll run pretty warm. I've run mine loud for a couple of hours w/o any issues. I've never pushed it hard for many hours, th... |
