Thales Simplicity tonearm review in Stereophile.
I think that the most significant point to Fremer's Review......was the fact that on digital recordings he made using the Thales and a normally pivoted arm......no-one was able to pick which recording used which arm? This result is confirmed by my ...
New Schroeder linear tonearm, any thoughts?
The Copperhead is also a Unipivot....although like the Phantom's Magnaglide stabiliser.....it has a balancing 'swashplate' to maintain azimuth.I had a Hadcock GH-228 for 25 years which was a true unipivot and it sounded wonderful with MMs. It also...
New Schroeder linear tonearm, any thoughts?
Sarcher and Lew,I have had identical cartridges (both MM amd LOMC) mounted in the Copperhead, the DaVinci 12" Ref, the Phantom II and the FR-66S all on the Raven AC-2 turntable going into the same Halcro DM-10 Phono Preamp. The Copperhead has unbro...
New Schroeder linear tonearm, any thoughts?
Lew, With a removable headshell, you cannot have an uninterrupted connection between the cartridge and the phono stage. My experience suggests that the audible difference is far greater with LOMC cartridges than with higher output MM and MI cartri...
Buying A Cartridge Direct From Japan
Dear Nikola,The question was whether one can buy a cartridge directly from Japan? One imagines that he means from a retailer as I don't believe anyone thinks they can buy directly from a manufacturer like.....Lyra, Audio Technica, Dynavector, ZYX, ...
New Schroeder linear tonearm, any thoughts?
Mr. Schroder’s clear, concise, detailed and professional responses, sure gives me the confidence to try one of his products. Me too.......If only it had interchangeable headshells? :-(
Buying A Cartridge Direct From Japan
Dear Nikola,I think you might find that Jico are not quite as "intermediary" as you?.........Whilst your answers on this Thread may not be 'perfect'.......I'm pleased to say that your ears are certainly to be trusted......The MIT 1 cartridge you j...
Buying A Cartridge Direct From Japan
I have bought directly from HiFiDo, Otoman Vintage, Joynet Cafe and Jico on numerous occasions and have had no troubles.......
Glanz moving magnet cartridges
Dear Nikola,I think you are right.....The Fidelity Research FR-64s and FR-66s tonearms have a very Teutonic appearance. The big Micro tables also have that same design ethic IMHO?
Tonearm/Cartridge Matching
Regards Professor (Timeltel),Thank you for that easy to follow summation.I can't argue with any of it.Where I have a little difficulty is... When a recorded signal matches the natural resonance of our tonearm/cartridge, Mr. Anderson states the rec...
Tonearm/Cartridge Matching
My thoughts exactly Mofimadness and Effischer. For years I have been puzzled by the almost universal adoption of the Tonearm/Cartridge Resonant Frequency school of compatibility?I have over 30 cartridges which have been played across a dozen arms.....
VPI Direct Drive Turntable
C'mon Lew.....Tell us what you really think....:-)CheersH
Cost no object tonearm for DL-103
I have the Denon D-103R mounted in one of my FR-66S tonearms and concur with Mosin on its compatability (resonant frequency measures 12 Hz).With the FR-66S however....."Cost no Object Tonearm" is indeed a prime factor. But first....you must find on...
Glanz moving magnet cartridges
Greetings Professor,As usual....an interesting contribution and a great Link. Thanks....As the only damped tonearms I've owned have been uni-pivots (Hadcock, Grace, Graham)...I'm not sure how other types can be damped unless one resorts to the DIY...
Glanz moving magnet cartridges
Hi Don,I didn't realise that you also had joined the Glanz club? It's good to read your thoughts.....and gratifying for me that you 'get' my comments? :-)Nikola is unlike most Slavs (who actually say what they think) in that he kept making snide re...
