Who needs a MM cartridge type when we have MC?
Why no variable resistance MM/MI phono stages? There is, as we see, a market. My Halcro DM-10 Preamp has an inbuilt Phonostage with both variable Resistance AND Capacitance......for the MM Section only..😎The MC Phonostage has fixed Resistance of 2...
should I suspend a floor-standing turntable?
The floors of a high-rise building are often worse than the suspended timber floors of a house for Structure-Borne feedback (and that's the only feedback that you need to worry about)...😫Your safest bet is as close as possible to a structural colu...
Vintage DD turntables. Are we living dangerously?
Hi Doron,I hope you haven't bought a 'bad' TT-101 😱⁉️They are sooo complicated electronically...that it's easy to do 👀❓Three years ago I bought my first TT-101 from Foxtan in HongKong and it arrived with the 'Power' switch permanently engaged....t...
Vintage DD turntables. Are we living dangerously?
Hi Doron,According to Vintage Knob...the TT-81 has 1.3Kg/Cm starting torque against the 1.8Kg/Cm for the TT-101.I don't know how that relates to perceived performance as both decks are consistently immune to the the effects of 'stylus drag' even u...

This tempts me to try my SAEC WE-8000/ST as a straight tonearm 😜⁉️It comes with a ceramic off-set headshell but I use a whole lot of other headshells which I can use without twisting the cartridges as I currently do...😎What do you guys think I sho...
Vintage DD turntables. Are we living dangerously?
The prime cause is related to the fact that nearly all tonearms are mounted such that the stylus overhangs the spindle. Thanks for reminding me of this Lew...😊I do think that in this case with his specially made 20" tonearm without an off-set heads...

Would love to see photos or videos of some of your experiments Hiho....😉You're a 'thinker' and 'doer'.....and we need more of those...👍Kind regards....

Thanks for the Link Hiho...😍Very interesting.....and nice music as well...🎶I have seen that done before...as well as two Micro Seiki turntables running in line....using the one motor and a flywheel arrangement..👀I studied this arrangement shown in...
Who needs a MM cartridge type when we have MC?
Years ago I thought MCs were better than MMs, now I don't think either one is superior. They're different.This....👍😘
Who needs a MM cartridge type when we have MC?
Dear Acman, Banquo and Harold......I think you'll find it illuminating when you experiment with dropping the Resistance......sometimes greatly...😜🎼🎶And don't be afraid to keep changing it (if it's easily done with your phonostages?).....as it is n...
Who needs a MM cartridge type when we have MC?
I'm with Fleib on this one......😷For 5 years, because of Raul's influence.....I ran all my MM cartridges at 60K Ohms Resistance as this was the highest the Halcro DM10 could go.Only in the last year have I moved away from this 'mantra'.....and bee...

Hi Blix,Thank you for the kind words….The problem with any individual’s preferences in cartridges is that they are totally personal and subjective and depend to a large extent on the total system in which they are heard? I also hesitate to ‘rank’ ...

As Halcro and I know, there is NOTHING in turntable land quite as complex as a Victor TT101. Amen....😱⁉️....unfortunately...😬By the way Lew....are you actually listening to a 'working' TT-101? 🎼🎵🎶
Vintage DD turntables. Are we living dangerously?
Glad Chris helped you Downunder.....😀His ingenuity, understanding and competence in all things audio are unequalled in my experience...I took back my TT-101 to have him adjust the variable resistors for the platter brake system. As I discovered.......
