Nude Turntable Project
Why has my thread 'A Copernican View of the Turntable System' been completely erased? No one at Audiogon will respond to me?
A Copernican View of the Turntable System
Whilst the thread is not on the front page of the Analogue Forum, if you go to the Recent Discourse Forums and press 12 hour, 24 hour or 48 hour link, you will find it there.I like going this way as a routine b cause you get to see all the current...

T_bone,What you are saying and what Ralph is saying seem to me diametrically opposed? You and I are in total agreement, in fact the postulation of this thread is that the armpod is fixed and the geometrical relationship to the platter is correct an...

Dear Dertonarm,Thread is visible on my front page but Raul also couldn't see it?Don't know what's going on?
How important is the tonearm?
Davide,We are all free to believe what we want.......even that the earth is flat or the sun revolves around the earth. But please don't state that a suspended turntable is better than a non-suspended one as a fact.To you it might seem true, yet tha...
A Copernican View of the Turntable System
Dear Chris,Thanks for the kind words and yes....kudos to Raul for planting the idea for the 'Nude Turntable' in my head. You may be right about lots of other people now trying out the same experiment as my Thread is recording an average of 100 hits...
How important is the tonearm?
As Raul says....the Jelco is inexpensive. It doesn't mean it's a bad arm. If you find a cartridge that you like and which is a good match, you don't have to pay more for an arm.
A Copernican View of the Turntable System
I think you will find that the mounting for the platter and the tower for the arm will sound their best when coupled as tightly to the non-resonant platform upon which the resulting turntable is being constructed.Pure supposition and theory with n...
A Copernican View of the Turntable System
that the platform has become your plinthWell OK...... then turntables with plinths which sit on bases have two plinths? :-)Let us agree that at least we 'Nuders' are eliminating one plinth? And does that mean our amps on shelves or stands also hav...
How important is the tonearm?
Well I'm going to be the odd one out here.To me it's the cartridge that determines the sound which comes from the vinyl groove.I've got 8 arms and 16 cartridges and most of those cartridges will sound their best in many of the arms (value from $46...
Who needs a MM cartridge type when we have MC?
Perhaps I misunderstood what the "Sigmutt" referred to?I thought you were commenting on the TK5/155LC but then perhaps you meant the TK3/155LC in which case I agree with the Professor.Ebullience in the midrange and wonderful extension at both ends...
Who needs a MM cartridge type when we have MC?
Regards Professor and Headsnapin,I think compared to the TK3/155LC I can see how you might hear the TK5ea as very slightly recessed in the midrange........but I think that may be because the TK3/155LC is quite ebullient in that respect (part of it...
A Copernican View of the Turntable System
Dgob,Welcome to the 'Nude' club. You at least did the comparison. It would be helpful for others here if you could perhaps describe the plinth that you 'abandoned'?CheersHenry
Who needs a MM cartridge type when we have MC?
All you MM/MI lovers with an FR-64s/66s or those who have a high-mass arm and want a low compliance cartridge......There is an FR-6SE for sale on Audiogon classifieds at the moment. Now with all due respects to Professor Timeltel and the wonderful ...
Who needs a MM cartridge type when we have MC?
Let me just add something about the Signet TK5ea which, whilst beautifully described by Timeltel, does something better than almost any other cartridge I've heard.Massed strings......so difficult for systems to convey the sweetness, transparency a...
