A Copernican View of the Turntable System
Don,It seems as if you know well the pitfalls of 'structural gymnastics' and are learning more 'on the job'...so to speak :^)I'm impressed and looking forward to further evolutions of your ingenious arm-pod.CheersHenry

Brad,There are unfortunately no free lunches?A truly "universal arm-pod" like Corby's, requires many 'connections' and 'cantilevers' all held by grub-screws or something similar. The vertical micrometer is in itself a cantilever from the fixed base...

Ecir38,The base height of the arm pod casting is 110mm and 130mm with the bottom spikes.I can't tell you how many sleepless nights I had questioning the 'correctness' of the height before having it cast?I changed it over and over again and checked...

Who needs a MM cartridge type when we have MC?
Dear Nandric,As this thread mentions both MMs and MCs in its title, I believe it is permissible to listen to, and talk about both :^)Besides which, since obtaining and setting up a second turntable and providing four separate arms with readily int...

Dear Nicola and Chris,I have found that a tin of asparagus can form the ideal height for the temporary mounting of an arm :^)

Chris, Nandric and Brad are quite correct in this thread being primarily about isolated arm-pods, their cost and availability. The 'Nude Turntable Project' thread combines the support of the nude table together with the design and fabrication of be...

Thanks for that T_bone.Perhaps you can explain how Victor was able to use the same logo of the dog listening to the gramophone that we also associate with RCA?

Dear Nandric,My DD/TT is a Victor TT-81 made for JVC ( and soon to be replaced by its scarce and finer brother.....the TT-101).They have their bottom metal 'cage' attached (just as the SP10s have) so that spikes or 'footers' can be positioned unde...

Nandric,These 'footers' are of course different to my solution with the spikes. Both Chris and Banquo are using them so they must be fine.My concern would be if you could lean on the edges of the turntable and induce movement (ie 'rocking')...........

Dear Thuchan,Knowing the paradise that you are in at the moment, I am envious despite the fact that I am listening to the Cardinal called FR-7f sitting on his FR-66s throne :^)How long are you spending in the 'clouds' looking down upon us mere mor...

Dear Professor,A wonderful and thoughtful posting which manages to inform without too much technical jargon. Not many here, are able to do such in-depth comparisons which need, not only the cartridges and the varied appropriate styli?......but pres...
CD's vs Vinyl - Finally hear the difference
I agree with Syntax and Rodman. What I also don't discount, is that there are certain people who hear the distortions in digital in a way that may not offend other people?I'm not saying these people can hear 'better'......simply that their hearing ...
