Tube Preamp suggestion for the uninitiated The only preamplifier I can think of in your price range would be an Audio Research (I owned a SP9 MK II, SP11)before moving on to more expensive BAT tube preamps. An intro to tube preamplifers:http://www.audiogon.com/cgi-bin/cls.pl?preatube&1...

At what distance are balanced XLR cables needed? Kal, 10 meter unbalanced and no problems? How did you manage that? Unbalanced runs tend to act like an antenna in my experience, I had to resort to long runs of balanced interconnect to mitigate the attenuation.
Compensating for different speaker cable lengths I just went through this myself, bought some bulk DH Labs Q10 Signature wire. I need 15' on the right speaker, 7' on the left. It's cheaper (the wire is $15/foot) and easier to cut the wire to the lengths required, however come resale time you're ...

Univ. Remote for Wadia WT-3200 or Pronto Codes? I haven't found a component yet that doesn't work with a Harmony remote (now owned by Logitech)
Help for a server on a budget. You can use your current computer in pretty well any room and stream wirelessly to your main system using either a Sonus or Squeezebox. Lots of satisfied people doing this, I haven't made the leap but have been reading up on it quite a bit lately....
BAT VK31SE and the VK55 I had a VK30 preamp hooked up to a VK500 amp and it was absolutely fantastic. Due to lifestyle changes I switched over to a VK300xSE integrated, a fine preamp/amp but not as good as the BAT seperates.
Denon DCD-100 anniversary cd-sacd player Sandra,I haven't heard the new Denon DCD-A100, if time allows I'll try to track down a unit and give it a good listen. Amongst "high end" consumer audio companies I do hold Denon in high regard, but if I had ~$2500 to invest in a CDP I would likel...
Phono stage upgrade with Grado Reference I just went through the same conundrum, very happy I went with a Ray Samuels Nighthawk. Not only is it dead quiet and mates nicely with my Grado Statement, but I'm quite confident it will mate well with pretty well any cartridge.
Throwing your gear under the bus oh man, til the day I die.. Apogee Duetta II's. I won't go on and on, but the WTF was I thinking??????????
Canada Rocks: 70s lost lps pt 2... How could I overlook Our Lady Peace, The Tea Party, and of course.. The Band
Canada Rocks: 70s lost lps pt 2... I'll add to the above...Three Days Grace, if you can handle some seriously angry rock. Blue Rodeo is an excellent country-rock band with a dozen records to their credit, what's taking so long for them to be embraced in the U.S.? Saga's live album ...
Help a new guy get started As always my friend Toby has some great insights. I just went through this myself, re-building a bedroom system. My system was a Linn Classik that can be bought here for under $700 http://www.audiogon.com/cgi-bin/cls.pl?intatran&1292776098&...
