Anyone compared 6922 Sovtek & Electro-Harmonix
Alan,Amperex "GOLDEN GLOBE"? I must be missing something. I know there are Amperex 6DJ8/ECC88, 6922/E88CC, and 7308/E188CC with "ORANGE" globe logo. I've never heard of "Golden Globe" Amperex. ;-PAnd I have several hundred of this tube type from A...
Beware purepower inc
Mine went back to Canada for service over two months ago and I'm getting the same run-around as well, except they haven't given me the "it's going out today" BS. They just won't tell me when it's coming back.FrankC
Solid Epoxy Resin Platform -
Isn't this similar to man-made kitchen countertops like DuPont Quartz or Caesarstone? I know some has fragmented natural stone or glass in them, but I believe some are made of pure resin. At least my kitchen countertop looks like it.I've just got ...
ARC LS 25, 26 & 27
The LS denotes Line Stage, meaning that it is not a full function preamp, as none of them has a phonostage. Only the SP line has built-in phonostage. So take your pick. :-)FrankC
ARC LS 25, 26 & 27
Yes it does bypass the gain stage. I think ARC has the function since LS-2. I had the LS-1 and it did not have that function. I then went to LS-3. But can't remember if it has it or not. My 3rd pre was the LS-2b Mk II, and it definitely has that f...
ARC LS25 with PASS X250 - bad match? Seems bright.
Agree with Samzx12. I have an ARC LS25 Mk I with GNSC ref mod driving the Pass X350.5. Speakers are Verity Parsifal Encores. No problem with impedance issue. Prior to getting my amp, I had listen to it in a side-by-side comparison with the X-350 a...
Need help trouble shoot: weird noise
It turn out to be the preamp. Somehow wirh DAC powered up, a noise is picked up by the cartridge or phono cable. I tried plugging both sources into different inputs, used a different DAC, to no avail. The noise disappear once I disconnect the DAC ...
Thiel CS6
Alan,Actually, I would caution the use of X250 and recommend going with the X250.5. Prior to my current speakers, Verity Parsifal Encore, I had the Thiel 2.2 and then 3.6 for many years. I was driving the 3.6 with a Mark Levinson 333. When it died...
Tube Dac to Tube pre?
Hi Steve,So the answer to your original question is "Yes". There should not be any issue. And you should hear some improvement by replacing the pre/pro with a better preamp. What types of tubes will go into the DAC and the pre? Most NOS tubes, mea...
SF Elipsa vs Verity Audio Sarastro 2?
Kind of stretch here as I have not compared these two speakers side-by-side. I own the Verity Parsifal Encore and a close friend has a pair of the Sarastro 2 that I listen to often. Another mutual friend was a big Sonus Faber fan, so we've heard s...
Tube Dac to Tube pre?
Scoly1, I read your original posts a few times just to make sure I understand what you are asking for. I've not used a squeezebox myself, but based on the pictures I found online of the unit, I think this is how it works.Currently, you are probabl...
Audio Research REF II failed
Not 100% sure, but I remember hearing from some owner something about a resistor was put in place to protect the electronics when the power tube goes out. So this may be normal. Best thing is to call ARC to verify.FrankC
Rack of Silence, how good is it for a Turntable ?
Tpreaves,Not true. The reality is that everything has a resonance frequency, and that, unfortunately, has an impact on the sound. And there are all kinds of resonance "noises", some from equipment itself, some airborne, and some coming up from the...
Why is the market for used Levinson amps so slow?
Glai,Ken was over the first week that I received my X350.5 (brand new) from the dealer. I told him that it wasn't even burnt-in yet. But he took a listen, went back and put his 432 on sale. A week later, he had a X350.5 in his living room.Performa...
Why is the market for used Levinson amps so slow?
Wow, did catch this lively thread until now. I guess people will believe whatever they want to believe.I personally experienced the Levinson nightmare three times a few years back, and have documented my experiences in detail here back then. There ...
