liquid sound
That's one of those things that is difficult to convey in words, but when you hear it, you'll know.Smooth, flowing, and without grain. Liquid would also be organic, and very unclinical. The detail never interrupts the flow of music. One might say t...
What is your favorite material for loudspeakers?
Johnk,Your thread has got me thinking about the possibility of building the ProAc 2.5 clones using Baltic Birch plywood instead of MDF with veneer.I know this would alter the sound of the speakers from their original intent. What are your thoughts...
Newbie needs info on modest laptop speakers
What I use at home and at work are the Klipsch ProMedia powered sat/sub combo. You just connect it to your computer via the audio out and adjust the volume through the left speaker knob or iTunes. I was able to buy these for under a $100 per set, ...
What is your favorite material for loudspeakers?
I bought some Hawaiian Koa veneer for the ProAc 2.5 clone project I have planned.
Need to replace my Totem Acoustic Arros
Tvad,It seems like you've gained a ton more listening experience since I last saw you. It'll be interesting to hear what you've had in your house in the 2 1/2 years I've been off the 'GoN. Especially, since I'm gonna starting buying again soon.Dean
Love it, or Hate it ? (wood trim)
Wood trim? You guys fooling around with mannequins again?
Do I need a power cable - if so what brand?
Doug, yeah, I guess I'm back. The world wide financial crisis has motivated me to do my part in sparking a comeback by inducing useless, unrelenting spending into the economy. Sure that kind of thinking is part of what got us into this mess in the ...
Need to replace my Totem Acoustic Arros
Have you thought of getting the Totem Hawks or are you interested in trying something with a lightly different flavor? If not Totem, how about ProAc D15s?As a former [and happy] ProAc owner I'm thinking of a set of Hawks as my re-entrance into hifi.
Proac or Sonus Faber Monitor Speakers
Yes, Doron, damn you for ever owning those evil speakers of Satan!I too was seduced by her gorgeous walnut haunches. After she sang to me every night my mind was adrift in clouds of lust and passion.I passed this Jezebelle on to a poor soul on the...
Do I need a power cable - if so what brand?
You guys really need to stop trying to find a reason for everything and just enjoy life. If it works, great! If it doesn't, catalog it and try something else. Don't talk yourself out of something before you've tried it.Just do it. If we stopped to...
How to manage a big itunes library?
Hopefully, the omission of Firewire 400/800 from the MacBook might just be a prelude to newer Apple devices utilizing Firewire S1600 or Firewire S3200.I've never been a fan of USB. USB 1.0 was terrible, but 2.0 is better. It'll be interesting to s...
Anyone drive gear from Canada to US?
One of my first purchases on AudiogoN eight years ago was from a guy living in Canada. He drove the amp from Quebec into NY and shipped it to me from there.Boy, those were the halcyon days, eh?
Do I need a power cable - if so what brand?
Hah, I leave AudiogoN for two and a half years and return to find that the same arguments are still going strong.Over the years, we've had EEs and physicists arguing both sides of this topic without resolve. It's funny when two physicists resort t...
which tubes for which genre ?
For what you're interested in, SETs might not be the way to go.Do some research on push-pull designs which should give you the power to rock out. KT-88 based designs could get you there.Another option is using a tube preamp with an SS amp.Good luck!
