The effect of the Expanding Universe on turntables Khrys, cats count for more than anything else in the universe, regardless of mass, distance and relativistic state. Cats on a spinning TT are especially scared. Cats on a spinning lump of pizza doe are very unhappy. Unhappy or scared cats are very...

Has anyone heard the Ref 3? KT88? Is this tube supposed to be a compatible replacement with 6550C? Did you experience hiss before or after the rolling in the KT88?
VAC Ren II, VAC Phi, or ARC Ref 3? The problem with a hiss on early Ref 3 linestages has been noted by some others. No hiss was detectable on the unit I auditioned. I suggest you get in touch with Leonard at ARC. It is quite possible that the new bypass caps may get rid of the hiss.
The effect of the Expanding Universe on turntables Ahem, sorry for bursting thy bubble, Mint604, but Einstein shan't be blame for the shameful expansion of thy Rockport TT.There is no need to invoke universal warping. . . your Rockport $70,000 audio jewel is behaving like a 25 cents spinning glob ...
Absolute Best CD Players Out There Under $12k ? Ah Judy, that really hurt! Unfortunately I am largely abstinent, so I hardly ever experience the benefits of an altered state. . . would like to more often, though . . .Alcohol after all is known to intensify one's musical experience.
Has anyone heard the Ref 3? Gunther, your info about an upcoming LS26 jives with what I heard. LS-26 is likely to be based on Ref 3. I haven't seen anything on the ARC external database, though.
Absolute Best CD Players Out There Under $12k ? Judy, you stated:"Listening for yourself requires a good ear and hard work. Some just prefer to follow the leader and go with the flavor of the day hoping the leader knows what he is doing. This is frequently not the case."regretably your post is ...
Has anyone heard the Ref 3? Gunther, the term 'ruthless' is probabably ruthlesly accurate when speaking about the Ref 3. The creature reveals so much information that shortcomings up and down the chain may become more apparent. By the way, was the Ref 3 fully broken in? If i...
Absolute Best CD Players Out There Under $12k ? Sure thing Judy. . . no prob. As soon as you reciprocate, of course. . . and watch that helico-bacterium pilori. . . truly nasty stuff it can be! It can do a real number on your gastric pH. On the other hand riding a halcyonic platform might help....
Absolute Best CD Players Out There Under $12k ? Whoopadeedoo, do you mean something like the Accuphase DP-77? Heard. . . looks great. . . and the sound. . . sure is different!Judy, feeling a touch acidulated today? All, let us not knock Norm's Halcyionic active isolation platform quite yet. From...
Audio Research Ref 3 Opinions OK Agaffer, but how did the sound differ from that of the stock tube during those two hours?
Audio Research Ref 3 Opinions Thank you Agaffer, keep us posted.
Audio Research Ref 3 Opinions AGaffer, what difference did you perceive in your amps replacing the 6550C tubes with the 6550WE? And let us also know what the difference with the two tubes is in the Ref 3.
Has anyone heard the Ref 3? Zargon, I know what you are talking about when you speak of the Ref 3. I have been questing a replacement for my valiant ARC LS2B for the last 5 years: Spectral (do not remember which) seemed full of artifacts, ARC LS25 II was not involving enough... |
