Do Cables Wear Out?
Jeff_jones, you are forgetting that the aforementioned virgins are kept emotionally stable by sipping constantly from mugs of fresh milk expressed from dairy cows who have been kept in a state of constant bliss by playing to them Mozart's Eine Kle...
Do Cables Wear Out?
It all depends on your AC. If your utility company supplies you with dirty AC, the electron flow often contains impurities that are significantly abrasive, toxic and corrosive. Especially if the utility company is purchasing AC from power plants t...
ESOTERIC X-03 VS. AYRE C5XE
Frankpiet, as the TEAC UX-1 is an AV multichannel player, it was never optimized for 2 channel audio. It is well known that its 2 channel audio performance is not state of the art. It would make more sense to compare these modified devices with th...
Esoteric UX-1: How "noisy"?
Yes, the TEAC VRDS Neo transports in the X-01, UX-1 and I presume other similarly engineered TEAC player is mechanically relatively noisy. I suspect though, that if you can hear the motor spinning while you play music, your player may be resting o...
Do Cables Wear Out?
OK, so my previous post was in fact complete rubbish. However what is moderately true is that old cable can become slightly oxidized and consequently may loose some conductivity, regardless of the type of music you listen to.
Do Cables Wear Out?
The regular application of finely particulated Allotropic SnakeOil (TM) from Ophidic Audio Systems will prevent premature depolymerization and breakdown of copper-to-co-valent copper bonds of the basal IC transmissive metallic polymer chain. Most ...
MCD7000 outputs fixed or variable?
I concur with VELO62. I have used an MCD7000 for 10 years from 1984 to 1994. Tried both variable and fixed output. Variable output adds a certain amount of haze to the sound. I suggest you get a good linestage for your MCD7000.

Chris, how do the DC-91 and the Stello differ sonically? And how are they alike?

Lush, no comment was meant 'ad hominem.' The only experience I have with modded players is limited to a late model of the APL 1000. It performed below my hope and expectations when compared directly to an original X-01, even though the APL 1000 wa...
ESOTERIC X-03 VS. AYRE C5XE
Yes, there appear now to be SE versions of the UX-3 and X-03 available in the US. Please see:http://www.teac.com/esoteric/X-03_SpecialEdition.htmlAs the X-03 and corresponding SE version are natively optimized for audio, they would be more appropr...

Lush, the friendly audiofools gathering at this particular watering hole have intentionally avoided those more earthy metaphores that happily remind us of highway wrecks, RobotWars, pro wrestling matches, and roaches and stinkbugs making a satisfy...

Which Teac Esoteric model did Mr. martin compare to the DCS stack?
