Variations in how your system sounds? Mine does the same, whenever it happens I use a demagnitizer disc and its cured.
What would you upgrade next if you had my hifi ? Great preamp, digital, and speakers. I know nothing about your interconnects but would agree with Prcinka regarding them. The speaker cables being Transparent are probably top rate. I don't think you could go wrong with a good pair of monoblocks. ...
Why do no audio enthusiasts use McIntosh? Since I was a wee little nipper ther was always music. A suitcase record player at 5, small tape player at 7, a boom box with detachable speakers at 11, hand me down 70's system from an uncle at 13, the family Harmon Kardon with Pioneer speakers a...
Best preamplifier, amplifier for B&W 800 Diamond My 800d's work well with a pair of 1.2kw Mcintosh with a Mc c100 preamp.
Is McIntosh a stepping stone into HI/FI? I am on my second real system and just like 15yrs ago I looked into the other brands and ended up with MC. With the MC 3-4 hrs. nightly w/out fatigue, if I could stay up later it would be more. Even my dog likes it as he sits in the chair next to ...
Surge Suppression vrs. Lighting and Power Spikes I always unplug when not in use. Overkill maybe but what's not in this hobby? During any storms I power off and unplug.
Best CD player under $25000. Meridian 808.2 or 808.3
Album which you have listened to most? Depeche Mode-Violator, Pink Floyd-The Wall, Fleetwood Mac-Rumors.
Audioquest Oak speaker and Sky interconnects Biggy79, I think that the oaks have the same tonality and neutrality as the gibraltars. With the oaks it seems as the presentation has a greater sense of depth and width which makes suttle details more noticable. I don't think there is more or les...
Audioquest Oak speaker and Sky interconnects Demoed the gibraltar and really liked it, bought the Oak and it is much better. Wider soundstage, better sense of space, more resolving, very musical, etc.. I have it matched with colorado xlrs. I would think it would pair well with the skys. Ed f...
Saw the Stereophile review of the B&W 800 Diamond When I bought my 800d's, the older version, I was told the crossover was better than the 802d's. I really liked the 802d's and naturally no stores had the 800d's on the floor. My impression of the difference seem inline with the reviewers comparis...
McIntosh C46 makes distorting pops thru speakers turn on your preamp before amp(s) --turn off amps then preamp.
Best tube mono blocks under $15,000? As we speak ther are a pair of Mc 2301's just under your budget (14995). I would check em out, just popped up in the classifieds.
Kef 205/2 I had a similar beef with my 800d's powered by a Mc 500, which is 2 channel by 500 watts. All seemed well except the bass seemed lean. I was using monster biwire with monster balanced ics from my original system of the 90's. I always felt cables a...
McIntosh MC-1.2KW vs PASS XA-160.5 amps ?? Don't know about the pass but my mc 1.2 run about room tempature and sound right without a long warmup or leaving them on 24/7. I can't imagine wanting anything different after having these, they sound just as good at a wisper as they do cranked. Ed |
