what is the best cassette tape maker in your experience?
Back I’m my cassette days I used tdk and maxell. I had two different tandberg cassette decks. In my experience, I always repacked the tapes before using for the first time. Ie fast forward and rewind them once before first use. It made a differenc...
Vibration - What are the Main Sources?
In my particular set up I have my speakers on isolation feet. I’ll keep the brand out as everyone has their own tastes. I rebuilt my house so I paid a lot of attention to insulation. I have 5.5 inches of closed cell foam in the floors. All exterio...
Spring-Loaded Screw Turns Drywall Into Sound-Absorbing Panels
I had the fortune or misfortune of rebuilding my house over the last five years. I went through great lengths for acoustics! I have six inches of closed cell foam in the floors. Floors are cork. Closed cell insulation in all exterior walls. Open c...
Speaker Cables? why all the hype for expensive speaker wire?
To me it’s all relative to the system! Why would you buy 30k speakers and then want to cheap out on the speaker cable and claim that it doesn’t make a difference! It obviously does or it wouldn’t matter on the quality of wire inside that 30k speak...
Surge protectors and power conditioners - Good idea or bad?
I live in central Florida! I decided to try a Niagara 1200 on my system! While the unit seems to give clean power, imho it was a waste of money! The unit fails miserably at protecting my equipment as I suspected! I’m going back to battery back up!...
Battery backup
Personally I use battery backup. Here in central Florida, there are way to many power interruptions for line conditioners such as Niagara to offer any significant protection! I have proved it here with a Niagara 1200. Waste of money imho. I am usi...
Cable for AudioQuest Niagara 1200
Checked out the Puritan. Looks really nice! I like the covered receptacles. One thing that I noticed with the Niagara 1200 us that the plugs don’t seem very tight.
Cable for AudioQuest Niagara 1200
I have a Niagara 1200. I am using an  aq blizzard incoming power cable and monsoon outgoing power cables. Was it worth the money, I honestly can’t answer that one. What I can say is that I don’t have any ground loops or noise anywhere. Ground loop...
Disappointing On Mcintosh......help
Currently I’m running a McIntosh c53 preamp with a McIntosh mc452 power amp and a pair of KEF Blades! I couldn’t be more thrilled! The sound stage is spectacular and it is just a pleasure to listen to! Seems like KEF and and McIntosh like each oth...
Help selecting a power cord.
I’m using Audio Quest monsoon. Also running a Niagara 1200 power condition. Also running balanced inputs. No ground loops no noise.😎
why did my record player slow down, speed up, then go back to normal?
If it’s a belt drive, the belt may be stretched or worn. Could be a dirty speed control potentiometer! If it’s direct drive, could be a problem in the servo drive ckt.
Why did you choose the components and speakers that are in your system?
Through the years I have owned different levels of audio equipment. At this point I’m running a McIntosh c53 preamp, McIntosh mc452 power amp and KEF Blades. While all of this is great and it sounds fantastic, the one thing that I paid a lot of at...
Does the Audio Industry Have a Quality Problem?
Just bought a brand new pair of KEF Blade two’s. They are being replaced because of a flaw in the finish on one speaker. I’m upgrading to the blades at this point, but highly disappointed that such a defect made it through!
