The subwoofer site we don't talk about enough Good show, Eric! Apart from the interesting articles & good advice, they also offer a very useful driver measurement page.
Recommend a non-polite sounding amp / integrated For a non-polite amp that plays music (i.e. reproduces all the frequencies) I suggest you go for the Odyssey Khartago or Stratos recommended by @kennyc above.
Clock/time Congratulations @jasbirnandra If I were you I would save up for the clock; I have an Absolute DAC (Ideon), and adding its reclocker brought about a notable improvement even though, on its own, the Epsilon is an outstanding DAC (IMO, etc).
Do I Need a Dedicated Streamer? What @jbuhl said
Mahler 8th Symphony Excellent choices above notwithstanding, I recommend the following exceptional performances: - Horenstein / LSO from 1959 It is an exciting performance, intensive, and keeps you focused throughout. Part 2 begins in a measured manner and builds u...
Circuits explained with sprockets and acoustic camera (Steve Mould channel) Interesting. Thanks for recommending.
Anyone has a reference system where amplification is SS ? @inna There are many old time Audiogon members who no longer participate. And for good reasons. They all had great systems and amplification was never SS, and some of those people could afford anything. Actually, one old time a’gon member did p...
BEST little know Jazz Album that you ever heard? Brad Mehldau - The Art of the Trio (vol 3)
Streamer software, what do you use? @erik_squires I meant to talk about software that was at least a little independent from hardware That was clear to me. The Ideon s/ware I use is running on my own h/ware -- an ancient, fanless, Mini X pc -- not one of their own streamers (wh...
Streamer software, what do you use? I use Ideon Audio's own Absolute Stream player which gives me excellent sound (i.e. clarity, resolution & dynamics). I have a simple fanless MiniX hooked to an outboard linear PS I sourced from Ideon. I rarely stream, preferring my own library...
As An Experiment I Stuck A Few Things Under My Pre-Amp And Am Now On A Quest Hi, I have dabbled in all sorts of isolation, coupling and decoupling devices. Ultimately I find the best sound (clarity, extended FR esp bass) are ball-bearing / maglev devices. Bladders / inner tyre tubes give muddy bass (i.e louder but bloated...
Audio Spectrum Analysis Hi - I’m not sure anyone here understands how we can help... I certainly am in the dark. Yes, the peak at 16kHz (-85dB) is visible as is another at ¬9.5kHz at what looks like -90dB -- neither looks v. high in amplitude at the measuring point (obv...
What a great show Thanks for letting us know..
Electronics for Harbeths -- $5-10K I would add Accuphase to the list. Luxman or Accuphase should give you a synergistic match with your Harbeths.
ATC buying advice Hi @n777 The 100 give a much larger sound and, in so doing, require subwoofers to be really full-range on a grand scale. In a reasonably sized room, the 50s will probably end up being a more full-range sounding proposition -- i.e. the low end do... |
