New to Analog and just played my first record in
HermanYou're right. I have no idea if the cartridge is sounding its best or if it has lost significant fidelity. After playing that one Sting LP I have heard enough to know that analog is indeed special. It sounded pretty darn good on a 20 year old...

Amen Rushton. My goodness this is my final post in Agon. Please read what I have said. I don't expect my minimal investment in analog to sound better or as good as my digital front end. I did not say that. I said I wanted some of the analog magic ...

BlbloomI don't follow, but sorry you find it silly.I have worked pretty hard and have had fun finding wonderful gear at modest prices. Yes the little rant you gave above can and is true if one takes the time and a/b's lots of gear like myself.Agai...

Amps on the cheap....real cheap
Buy two Applied Audio Research SLA 2 amps. They cost $250 new each. One would also be enough. These are studio amps and sound 85% as good as the best solid state amps one can buy. I know as I have owned SS amps like the JC1's, Belles Reference and...
Vinyl vs. top-notch digital
I think great digital does indeed sound better than vinyl. One basic reason, I cannot get past all the noise with even the best of vinyl systems. All those clicks and pops etc - they drive me crazy and get in the way of the music for me.I hear to ...

Resolution Audio Opus 21 TRL Audio mod
I owned the Opus 21 and now own a TRL modified Sony NS900. It is his best mod with battery powered digital to analog section. The TRL unit is so much better you would sell the Opus 21 after listening for 10 minutes.TRL modified units are stunning ...

How much longer will CDs be made?
I don't watch many movies or care to invest in a an HT set-up. What does this question have to do with HT anyway?CD is not dead and many will be enjoying CD's for 10- 20 years. Some of the posts here really shock me?No need to spend $7000 as one c...
