Do I really need Desoldering for replacing resistors/caps? Simply use a $5 solder sucker. Heat up the solder joint and simply use the solder sucking gun to remove the solder. Very easy and effective.
Jupiter-Flat-VT Flat Stacked Wax Capacitors Very good sounding caps indeed.
Granny ring, Jetrexpro, all Hi group. Seems I am moving and will have lost my dedicated music room. The new space requires our stereo to be in the living room. I cannot have all the rectangular boxes, as my wife says, in this room. That said, I have made up some nice WE 10ga...
Synergistic Red Fuse ... Solman989, yes I have bypassed fuses for years with great results in my digital front end gear. See my post above which talks about using high quality circuit breakers for power switches in amps negating the need for any fuse.
ENTIRE SYSTEM NEEDED TO SELL So sorry for your loss. If you are close to Minneapolis, MN I would be happy to sell the gear for you on this site. If it is high end gear it can be sold here. I am also willing to help you with the value of your gear if you are far away. Check my...
Synergistic Red Fuse ... Yes, it would help LAK. I know as I bypassed the fuse in a CEC transport and it improved the sound nicely. A better fuse will also help as it approaches bypassing a fuse altogether, just not quite as good.
Synergistic Red Fuse ... What I find interesting is why all the fuses in gear? Paul of TRL, RIP, never used fuses in his amps and preamps. No fuse sounds better than any high end fuse. He taught me to build amps and preamps with high quality circuit breaker switches as th...
Paul Weitzel from Tube Research Labs My heart goes out to his family and yes Paul was a genius and wonderful man. His designs completely changed my audio world. I can no longer settle for good or different as his gear and sound was on an entirely different plane of performance. He ne...
Anyone have/ordered the Job 225? George read my post above yours and give me your thoughts on the Rothwell. Hard to part with my preamp as it was a three month DIY project. They sound fantastic together. I do want to reduce the hiss and think you are absolutely right about too mu...
Anyone have/ordered the Job 225? I am sure my rig is passive friendly, but I really want to keep my self designed and built tube preamp. The output impedance of my preamp varies with the volume setting. I use a shunt style stepped attenuator made by Khozmo. I measured the output ...
Anyone have/ordered the Job 225? I wonder what the input impedance of the Rothwell devices are as George makes a good point. I believe the input impedance of the LSA is 20k and that is not a good match for the output impedance of my tube preamp.
Anyone have/ordered the Job 225? Seems the Rothwells do change the sound in some not so great ways. Great LSA idea.
Harbeth 40.1 - Need some tips on placement from current owners. Thanks Rob. These are a simple joy for me. I played all my Rickie Lee Jones CDs today and so enjoyed it!
Anyone have/ordered the Job 225? Thank you very much srosenberg as this is a mighty fine idea. I was thinking of just using Rothwell attenuators, but they may degrade the sound? I have not used the Rothwells before. I love this little amp. Best value in high end along with the Li...
Harbeth 40.1 - Need some tips on placement from current owners. Nice post. I bet the Bryston is a good match with the 40.1s. Best to avoid dark or warmish sounding amps for best results. I bet the new Vac will be very good indeed! |
