Audio Connection/Johnny Rutan
John Rutan is the man. His vinyl man, Nick is also a huge asset.
VTF gauge
I own a number of digital scales. For me, the Shure (which I remember using as far back as the 70s) is easily the worst. Then there is a very common stylus force gauge made in China and rebranded by everyone from Acoustech ($79 at Acoustic Sounds),...
Cover Songs that are better than the Original
Thanks Rockrider. totally cool cover. BTW, the original is one of the best recordings of a rock n roll song, full stop. Although I'm a vinyl guy, the digital recording by Gotye and most of that album has it all and is mesmerizing.
Wilson Audio WATT/PUPPY or Gershman Grand Avant Garde?
As I said before, you cannot go wrong with either. Neither speaker will overwhelm your room. I had a WP 7 and then the Sashas in my room which is 16 x 20 x 9 and neither overwhelmed at all. In fact, I now have the Alexia 2s in that same space.  Wh...
Wilson Audio WATT/PUPPY or Gershman Grand Avant Garde?
I'm sure they will.
Wilson Audio WATT/PUPPY or Gershman Grand Avant Garde?
Wilson sound is slightly more incisive and has better micro detail. Dynamic, with excellent bass performance but no particular emphasis. Gershman are warmer and more forgiving with a bottom up sound and slight bass emphasis. This is my experience ...

The best music in 2019
+1 for Yola. And a great live act.
LP made from a digital master recording...
One thing for sure--there is rarely a digital reproduction of a pre-mid 80s analog recording that is arguably better than the original vinyl lp absent extraordinary efforts (e.g. Abbey Road, White Album)
LP made from a digital master recording...
I sometimes buy cds and vinyl of the same album. It's often pretty close if the cd is not too compressed. Although I am a vinyl guy, I agree that it's not worth the effort if the sound is virtually indistinguishable from the cd. But sometimes, the...
Just another Orange fuse thread
Listen to Paul McGowan of PS Audio talk about fuses in a Dec 13, 2017 video on PS Audio's website. He doesn't know how or why (nor do I), but he concludes that fuses can make a difference in sound and his company listens to the difference before s...
Disappointing On Mcintosh......help
Mac and B&W are very synergistic. Very nice rich overall sound with the tweeter tamed a bit.  But I will say that I formerly owned the MC2102 (100 WPC tube amp) and the C1000 3 piece preamp with Wilson Watt Puppy 7s. I was determined to purcha...
Focal Sopra 3 vs Wilson Audio Sasha W/P (series 1)
I had the ARC Ref 150 with KT150s with the Sasha 1s and felt that it was a significantly better amp for that application than the Ref 75 which did not properly push the Sashas (even though the combo sounded very good).  ARC and Wilsons are very sy...
2020 Rock-N-Roll Hall Of Fame Inductees
I have no use for a so called rock Hall of Fame that admits anyone who sold a lot of records. Talent, true musical genius or seismic impact on the musical scene be damned. Judas Priest? Pat Benatar? C’mon. Then again, they let Kiss in long after I ...
Dynavector XV-1s What is the REAL story?
rminsf:I made the move from XV1-s to XV1-t a few years ago.  I have a VPI HRX rim drive with superplatter and 3d arm. The t is simply a better cartridge than the s and most certainly not over analytical. In fact, it is more natural. I cannot say i...
