Canton Reference 9k opinions
Back, again.  Sold the 9K's and tried Triangle Duetto II's, then Devore 0/93's and Magnepan 1.7i. All were nice, but I missed the 9K's. So, bought a pair of the new Reference 9 (no K) and, voila, happy again. Based on my aural memory (notably poor...
Canton Reference ? any comment?
Traded my 9K towards a pair of Triangle Duetto, then a pair of Devore 0/93 followed by the Magnepan 1.7i. Of these, the Maggies were the best to my ears. However, long-term, none bruoght me the listening pleasure od the 9K. As a result. I've order...
Canton Reference 9k opinions
Sorry I missed this thread until now. I purchased a pair of Ref 9K with matching stands in Jan 2019 and have been very happily listening to them since. I started off with a new Accuphase E-280 integrated and after 3 solid-months (24/7) of break-in...
Canton Reference ? any comment?
I've had a pair of Ref 9Ks for almost four (4) years, which is longer then I've owned any other speakers in the past 30yr. It took a while to find an amp with good synergy (Accuphase E-280 was a bust, Bryston 4BSST was much better, Cary Rocket 88 ...
9", 10" or 12" tonearm?
Clearaudio has a line of linear tracking TAs that are typical CA quality (very high). Even the least expensive is expensive (to me). I'm saving for new TA and may spring for their lowest end model. Another problem with linear tracking TAs is their...
Anyone have experience with the Tung Sol 7581a vs. EL34, KT66, KT88, 6L6
Ran GL KT88s in my Cary Rocket 88 but missed the wonderful mid's of  EL34s. Rolled in a set of the Tung-Sol reissue EL34s and the magic is back. However, I purchased as my 'back-up' tube set and they are 'on-the-shelf' as I've rolled in a quad of ...
Does anything better Jelco arm ~$1000
noromance - am running a Stax UA-7/CF on a DP-80 in a DK-300 plinth. Carts are a Lyra Kleos, Cadenza Blk & Kontrpunkt-b, AT33R & AT150Ti. Plan to stay with an arm that handles a universal headshell as part of the fun for me is swapping car...
Review: Ortofon Kontrapunkt B Cartridge
I shudder to think how many pieces of gear I’ve gone thru since my original review in 2002. But, 17 years later I still have one piece of gear from 2002 and it is the Kontrapunkt-b. Had it retipped by SoundSmith in 2009 and is as good as new. Don'...
Tonearms: Ripoff?
Older thread, but that TK-850L sure does look tasty to me (even better than a blue (is that a flavor?) Slurpee). Plus, as an unsuspecting consumer I love being ripped off. Just have to see if it will fit my Denon DK100 plinth.
Does anything better Jelco arm ~$1000
Too bad the Audiomods has a fixed headshell. I swap cartridges (generally have 5 or 6 on-hand at any one time) too often to deal with cartridge alignment every change. VTA & VTF are enough. Is down to the TK-850L or Sorane SA1-2 (at 2x the pri...
New McIntosh MA252
Auditioned the MA252 driving a pair of Harbeth 3.1s (wish they would have set them up with the 3.2s) at Overture in DE and it was delightful. My best description would be that the combination was very musical and got the RP&T near perfect. On ...
Esoteric K-03X vs Accuphase DP-720
An older thread but I’m wondering what the OP decided and what he thinks of his new CDP (if he upgraded)? Am CDP shopping and two of the four units I’m looking at are the E-03X and DP-720 (along with the E-05X & McIntosh MDC550). Big cost delt...
Svetlana 572-3 tube---Still available?
Old thread, but Cary & New Sensor (headquarters is on Long Island) both have the tube. New Sensor was easy to get to via the phone and stated they had almost 1000 of the 572-3 in stock. $300 for a pair. About a year is all you get from a tube ...
Mobile Fidelity OML-1 - Any thoughts/opinions?
I found nothing untoward in the origianl response by audiooracle. No selling going on from my viewpoint. Am another owner of OML-1s. Very pleased with them after about 24 hours of listening. Music Direct is selling the demo units for a great price...
I have aquired a Luxman TP117 and I can not
I, to, have heard that the TP-117 has the T-117 tuner in it. I wouldn't doubt that it does as it cost $1200 new and the tuner was $600. The R-117 receiver was only $1000. Based on pricing I would think the TP-117 has the T-117 tuner in it. I have ...
