Bluesound Vault 2i, Cocktail Audio X40 or ??????????
Fine tips. Thanks. But if you don't have the node2 to start with, the extra cost for a Vault2i isn't that high. You miss the wifi streaming though.
Audiogon member suggestions for a speaker that sounds good at low volume!!!
@tweek Indeed very interesting. Maybe not for the desk though. High time to try an open baffle full-range (almost) speaker.

Anyone with experience of the Tannoy mini Autographs? Very tempted to try them as desk-top speakers for mostly low-level listening.

@fleschler Any particular new GD release you can recommend (not a die hard fan yet - like their acoustics most).

Also very compressed modern music can sound just fine at higher spl's if your system and room is good (neutral) enough in the bass region. For some "audiophile" systems this may not be the fact.

Diapason Micra and Ateris are beautiful sounding but also very revealing speakers for low volume. Totem Sky is another. I use them regularly driven by a Paradigm PW AMP and sometimes added with small sub. You may also like the active pro-speaker N...
What’s wrong with Diana Krall?
I do believe the forum would be fine without threads like this.
Cleanest CD recording to test with
Did not find Andy Gravish on Tidal but a cd by Kimiko Itoh where he participates a little. Smooth jazz you heard before but quite refreshing and very well recorded (as it appears in my phones).

Where do cables upgrades have the most impact?
Is it really the cable industry that needs our excess money the most?

Better I think would be to do the testing with music that you feel have the potential to sound "better" than it does with your existing components. The best recordings sounds perfect on anything.
Genelec SAM active studio monitors for home use
@rohanstevens you only need a streamer with AES/EBU output to feed the Gen. Like the proposed above. DAC is built in. The same for a lot of other moderna pro monitors. The Elac has roon capacity. Or did you mean something else?
What will a preamp do for me?
Just discovered.Elac Alchemy DDP-1. From their new digital serie. May be of interest.Combine with streamer DMP-1. Has AES output which could be led directly to pro monitors with digital input. Becoming rather common.
