Vintage versus New
@holmz I'm using the word 'speakers' in general terms. From my limited understanding, the crossovers used today are different, as are the woofers and tweeters. I believe the drivers on the Electrovoice speakers weighed about fifty pounds each. The...

Tuner choice
I bought an HH Scott 350 A in excellent condition for $100.00 about six years ago. I replaced the multiplex tubes with NOS military issue Telefunken’s. It has a liquid, relaxed sound. The multiplex needs an alignment so I listen to it in mono. I’l...
Ok ..I have Maggie 1.7is on Magnarisers but one keeps blowing the "tweeter"
@russ69 true, if it's under warranty then I'd leave it for Magnepan to resolve.
Is This the Essence of "The Audiophile Dilemma?
Being able to verbalize in musical terms helps with reviews. I'd recommend a copy of the' Harvard Dictionary of Music'. I bought my equipment via a combination of listening to pieces at a reputable dealer and by reading reviews via the internet. I...
Buying New TV Need A Soundbar Recommendation
There's a company out of France and I cannot remember their name. The speaker was round with a woofer in the center. Like the iris in an eyeball. It sounded great. The dealer told me that they were to come out with a soundbar soon. I can call the ...
RCA Living Stereo
@edcyn Yes, I too am a fan of Musica Antiqua Köln but sadly they are no longer. I lived in Nippes Köln (the outer ring) as a graduate student. I love that city and still listen via stream WDR 3 consistently. I wanted to also add that Archive Produ...
RCA Living Stereo
My thought is that many of the Living Stereo three track recordings were recorded superbly however the pressings are compromised. Along the same lines as the Mercury Living Presence pressings. Analogue Productions remastered and reissued a good nu...

@secretguy why's that?
Which DACs are known to be sweet/rich/relaxed?
Cullen Cables' Crossover 2 Series power cable claims to add a tube like sound to components. They've gotten good reviews. Starting price is about $330.00.
Inexpensive Good Vintage Turntables?
By sharing my progress along a similar path, I'm thinking that I may spark some creative inspiration in you as well; I bought a solid, good working stock Thorens TD160 MK1 for $200.00 about ten years ago. I would have preferred buying a Lynn Sond...
Which DACs are known to be sweet/rich/relaxed?
This will probably seem whackadoo but Akiko Audio used to make a product called a Squeezebox. I asked an Akiko dealer about it and he said that he uses one with his solid state tuner because it makes it sound like a tube tuner instead. They're not...

@jkf011 for some, bypassing the fuse wouldn’t be a problem. If you’re uncomfortable about doing that, then don’t! My thought is that your problem is in the electronics and not in the speakers themselves. I’m saying this because there’s nothing ab...

If you already know not to play them too loud, then you might consider bypassing the fuses altogether.
Best Rock Drummers
@larsman  I don't agree with you about other Who records being as drastically different from one another as 'Who Are You' was to The Who's earlier efforts. Anyway, if you like 'Who Are You' that much, then to each his own.
