Is optical mostly a waste of time versus Ethernet?
@mitch2 These seem similar to the Uptone Audio EtherRegen and the GigaFOILand the Regen are pretty close in price.
Is optical mostly a waste of time versus Ethernet?
@sns I'm thinking of something like a PS Audio duet at the Ethernet switch. And I could run an extension cable from the LPS to the conditioner. I'd hate to get caught up on power conditioners when I could allocate money towards a switch, re-clocke...
Is optical mostly a waste of time versus Ethernet?
@tomic601 No, if it's dragon slaying technology, then it can't be affordable to at least 90% of the music listening population. Otherwise it's not as great as it claims to be.
Is optical mostly a waste of time versus Ethernet?
@juanmanuelfangioii Yes and I forgot to say thank you, so please forgive me and thank you for clarifying what I didn’t know at the start.
Is optical mostly a waste of time versus Ethernet?
@juanmanuelfangioii So what started out as being a very cost effective way of improving sound quality when streaming, is actually another expensive proposal given the need for separate power strips at both ends of the converters. So it looks as th...
Is optical mostly a waste of time versus Ethernet?
@juanmanuelfangioii A separate power conditioner just for the fiber optic cable converter is impossible for me to do. I can plug the second box into my passive line conditioner since it will be near my stereo but other components use it also. But ...

@dbb That’s the post I was referring to, thanks for posting the URL
Is optical mostly a waste of time versus Ethernet?
There was a post regarding these converters, https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B09P4ZS4QN/ref=ox_sc_saved_title_8?smid=AK4611NBN3D7D&psc=1 I'm thinking about giving them a try and would be interested in hearing what others have to say.
Cheapest way to enhance SQ with digital streaming
My streaming quality is pretty bad, so I'm probably most likely to hear an improvement with these devices. At some point I might decide on a switch like the more affordable English Audio. Would a switch like that make a significant improvement and...
Class D Integrated Amplifier Recommendations.
I'm no expert on amplifier design, just wondering, why class D? Rega has a Class A/B integrated for under $4,000.00.
Solid state or Tubes preamp phono stage.
If you’re having trouble choosing between a tube or solid state phono amp, then what about the ASR Basis Exclusive? https://asraudio.de/files/Test-ToneAudio-USA-HighEnd-Phono-Vorstufe-November2007-EN.pdf
McIntosh Labs delivery issues
@farne230 that should sound great, having a tube preamp. I don’t think they make tuners anymore but I do believe they make a digital streamer. Anyway please give us your impressions once everything is running!

@farne230 a friend of mine is refurbishing a pair of Levinson mono blocks. I'm still waiting to hear them with Quad 57's.
Which pair of speakers changed your Hifi life?
@jl1ny Thanks for sharing. Just reading up on your speakers, I’m unfamiliar with the Reference 3A Royal Virtuoso’s. They appear to have some range. And I’m sure after they’re positioned they don’t get moved around. Thinking the shape of cabinets a...

@roxy54 fair enough. I remember certain McIntosh Class A/B amplifiers but as I stated in the beginning, my familiarity with McIntosh goes back to the 60's and 70's. Not to mention I'm beginning to get senile.   @farne230 I had an acquaintance wh...
