To go new or to go vintage? I will by used whether vintage or new stuff. This way, you can resell them and not lose too much money, and it’s fun to try new gears, and sell the ones you don’t like. Vintage speakers like JBL studio 4412, 4430, etc sound real good to me - eve...
Blown away with 2 speakers hifi sound! Heart felt thanks to all those encouraging words about enjoying the upgrade! For every discouraging persons I meet, there are many who are social oriented and truly caring about other peoples feelings...Keeps me have faith in humanity...
Any one looking for an all in one unit that is small that sounds good? Haha that's funny Millercarbon...I too like shopping there! Happy Thanksgiving.
Suggestions for bookshelf speakers that have great dynamics, budget of $500 used. Haydn are great looking speakers - since you say they are in good condition, you can resell them at the cost - good thing about getting used gears, as new ones depreciate...enjoy the hunt!
Upgrading speakers in HT/2 channel system I vote for a used Wilson - more quality for the buck used...
Fear of Streaming I agree with the above poster - you will get used to streaming and you will appreciate the ability to sample new music never heard before at your finger tips - not even KIng Louis 14th had this much repertoire available at a whims notice...hehe...
Focal Aria sounds muffled and far away being run on a denon AVR-X3400H Make sure you have the Focals connected to the Front speaker bindings on Denon. Having said that, the Focals will sing with an amp upgrade to a dedicated 2 channel integrated amp, unless home theater if your cup of tea...I would recommend somethin...
Suggestions for bookshelf speakers that have great dynamics, budget of $500 used. With all due respect to the previous poster, the Klipsch have nice and lively sound but a bit bright for my classical music ambitions.Buying used, you can get a cut above that and end up with even more quality, although for the money, the Klipsch ...
Polk vs KEF The Kef should out play the Polk...I like their sweet soft non-fatiguing sound.
You've never heard a Moonlight Sonata like 'dis I enjoyed looking at them, but not their performance - the pianist lacked refinement in her touch. The cellist I enjoyed more - I heaerd that he used a $77 bow instead of umteen thousand $ ones most Maestros use - Fiddlerman carbon bow instead of ...
Amp recommendation I like the presentation of McIntosh or Krell over Parasound. Try to hear them and you too probably would like them before spending that kind of money, as there are many good sounding amps for less, like adcom for instance.
Focal 1008be Focals have transparent highs and soft loaded spring sound (behind the woofer) - you can sort of get the idea by hearing this : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pJ8p_pKycsE ...but if you really liked Dynaudio, they are fine speakers as well - I ...
Mcintosh MCD1100 My really old McIntosh still sounds best to my ears. I would test them side by side - you might just want to keep the Mcintosh and save money for streamer or something...
Please help me decide... I prefer the sound of Cambridge integrated over the ones you mentioned - has toroidal transformer, giving it that nice and warm hifi-ish sound that warms your heart...
