What was your greatest epiphany? When I first heard a real transparent highs and liquid mid. When I first heard it, I was pleasantly surprised to find this world of beauty I had not known before. Made me so happy to learn that I can turn on happiness at will with a good hifi syst...
Music for "Tough Times" I like to match my blue mood and gradually goto something brighter and happier. I start with a slow section of a symphony like Mahler or Bruckner, and end with Mozart to cheer me up.
Cheap tweaks...What would YOU reccomend? Connecting 2 amps by RCA "Tape out" to another amp's "Tape in" gives you 4 good channels (instead of unsatisfying powers of most surround receivers). You can position the speakers in many ways. 1) All in the front - wide soundstage2) Front and ba...
Omnidirectional speakers. The future? We all have extra amps and speakers from upgrading - you can connect 2 amps by RCA "Tape out" to "Tape in" on another amp. Now you have 4 channels to hook up your speakers - 4 good ones, unlike most surround receivers. Place 2 speakers back to ba...
Best HT in a box speakers Cambridge audio sight has a combo for around $550 including a DVD player and amps. Got good reviews - stereo review said they were the best speaker value in America. Sounds as good as Bose cubes for a lot less (which might not be reassuring enough...
The best CD Player for the money Rrekstad, Since mine doesn't do it, I wouldn't recommend putting money into your. You can buy a LiteOn Lvd 2002 for $120 on the web that will sound as good if not better.
What are the most under-appreciated products? Cambridge soundworks speakers - as good as Bose for a lot less. Stereo Review said they are the best speaker value in America and the price has dropped since. Have a listen - for the money, it is a great deal for a small space somewhere.

How does the JBL Creature 2.1 speakers sound? Have you heard swans powered book shelf ($250), and cambridge soundworks (economical) ? Some of the best sounding computer speakers I've heard. You might want to hear them before deciding. The creatures sounded ok but small. Swans will give you g...

Metal speakers. How are they? I like the sound of metal cones - look at all the musical instruments made from metal. Since we are trying to recreate alive music, make sense to me to use the same material. We need the sound of wood (paper cones), and metal to cover all the sou...
Energy Veritas 2.1 sound too lean Do you have a sub? This solves many of the speaker problem for me.
Celestion Ditton 44 Speakers I have a ditton - I like the tweeter especially. They are not as dynamic sounding as newer speakers, but is a musical sounding one. Very listenable and doesn't sound like a cheap speaker at all. The capacitor change probably will improve it for s... |
