Is a PTP Solid 12 (Lenco) worthy of a $5k cartridge
Hi.  I have the Artisan Fidelity Achates SE with an Etna but also use a Kleos SL.  The Lenco platform is definitely capable of world class sound.   Don’t hesitate to go big on the cartridge.  Check out my post and links for some info.   Fremer dec...
Lyra Kleos or Kleos SL?
I own the Kleos SL and the Etna.   The Kleos SL is really great and I’d go for the SL over the higher output version.  Check out this video:https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=b91ydKjb7HQThe song is played with the Kleos SL.  In fact, you should read wh...
Artisan Fidelity Achates SE
Thanks for the responses.   I completely agree with your comments about the scale of the Achates SE.  It was one of the reasons I pursued this particular AF idler.  I believe with the platter and arm the table weighs in closer to 120 lbs!  I use a...
Empirical Audio Synchro mesh reclocker, anybody?
I have two.  One is installed via toslink in from a cable box to spdif out to a Bel Canto Dac 2.5 to Bel Canto M1000 AND a Bel Canto C5i.  This primarily drives indoor TV sound but also indoor/outdoor audio.  Initially I bought to drive two device...
Replacing Lyra Kleos at end of its life need suggestions as to what next?
I forgot to add...I believe when you send your Kleos in for a rebuild, you can request that they convert it to an SL.  The SL is 0.25 mV output and the Etna is 0.56mV, but the difference is only approximately 3dB.  My volume dial was at 10:00 o’cl...
Replacing Lyra Kleos at end of its life need suggestions as to what next?
Hi.  I just wrote a mini review of my turntable, the Artisan Achates SE. and it is also a Lenco-based turntable.  I used the Lyra Kleos SL and now have the Etna.   I can assure you a well-executed Lenco-based idler is worthy of an Etna, but the Kl...
Best redbook-only CD Player under $10k - Bryston BCD3, Resolution Audio Cantata 3.0, ....
Thanks for the responses so far.  I’ve listened to the Gryphon Scorpio in an all Gryphon system, so it was tough to know what the CD Player was contributing.  Good sound though.  Which Esoteric has R2R Ladder multi bit DAC....all of them or just o...
Speaker thoughts - ProAc D40R or Wilson Benesch
I cannot offer a direct comparison experience of the Proac D40R and the WB line.   I still have the D40R and I continue to be amazed at how they perform in a huge room.   I would say the bass is ruler flat to 31 hz and useful bass in the 25 hz ran...
Strong US$ ... Gryphon ...
That is funny...I thought about buying Gryphon last week because of the strong dollar. Many people are predicting the dollar will go to parity with the Euro, and hopefully back to 0.88 when it hit highs shortly after mini recession in 2002 I belie...

Although I am thrilled with the D40R's, I think you should consider a used pair of Carbon Pro 8's. There are two pairs for sale right now for only a few thousand more than a new pair of D40R's. If you have the space, the CP8's should be spectacula...

Are you in the US? Arizona HiFi is the only US store that may have a pair. Soundstage Fine Audio in Canada has a used pair listed. Probably not going to get a new pair directly from Proac. Consider a K6 or Carbon Pro 6/8? You may be able to find a...

I own the D40R's. They are great performers and easy to drive with tube amps or class A amps. I also listen to similar music. I listened to some WB speakers and I didn't think they were as full sounding and they didn't quite do it for me. The D40R...
Class A Coda 15.5 Vitus SS-102 or Gryphon Mephisto
Thanks. I have a high regard for the guys at Coda, and I think their 15.5 looks like the Class A amp to beat. Does your 15.5 run hot? I had an Ayre V3 that was biased in Class A up to 30W and A/B up to 100W, and it ran like a toaster driving 8/6 o...
