VT-100 MKII sonics but need more power
The ARC VT200 MKI would fit the bill, with power and musicality in spades (it is a great amp). Incidentally, I own the VT100MKII, and I find it to be quite powerful. I am using the VT100 MKII to drive MG 3.5s. The sound is beautiful and robust.
Has anyone compared Audio Research LS25II to Ref2
I would keep the LS25MKII and change the Nordoast Red Dawn interconnect (I think it is a weak link in your system). I think with better cables, you will get a "fuller" midrange, greater transparency and extension. I think the Analysis Plus crystal...
ARC LS-5MKIII or ARC LS-25MKII
I am using the ARC PH2, LS25MKI and the VT100MKII. The combination (using NOS 6H23 Sovtek tubes) is very satisfying. I agree with Jafox that the PH2 is an excellent phono stage that is not well known because it is completely balanced. I bought the...
One or two subwoofers?
Stereo subs is the way to go. However, it requires more effort in initial setup. I am using stereo Sunfire Signature subs with my MG 3.5 (I am also biamping with a Marchand XM126s) Blend is seamless. All musical parameters have been improved (caut...
Best overall Speakers for $2,500.00 or less, New?
You can approximate your requirments by purchasing a mangnepan MG 1.6 (new, $1600) or MG 3.3 (used $1200), and using the remaining $900-$1200 to buy a Sunfire Signature subwoofer. The combo would be full range and wwould make beautiful music.
VTL ST-150 vs ARC VT100 MK2
The ARC VT100 MKII can be improved markedly by using NOS 6H23 input tubes (try Upscale Audio, you need tubes matched to very close tolerances for the input). With these tubes the VT100 MKII becomes more dynamic, robust and full sounding with great...
Are Sub-woofers really for music?
Stereo subs are the way to go.I am using a stereo pair of Sunfire Signature subs with my MG 3.5s with excellent results.Properly integrated subs can enhance the musical experience markedly.
Maggie 1.6QR vs 3.6R and Room Size
The Mg 3.6s are superior to the 1.6s in every musical category. For your size room it is a "no-brainer". Go for the 3.6s. If you can afford it, the 20.1s would be even better for a large room.
next step? just got the phono stage Arc PH2
Audiotomb: Why don't you make your own decisions? Opinions are "dime a dozen" on the web.
next step? just got the phono stage Arc PH2
Congrats on your purchase. I have been using the PH2 for about 7 years (I bought it new). It provides excellent performance and is a very underrated phono preamp. I am using mine with an ARC LS25, VT100 MKII/Kenwood L07M, and Oracle Delphi MKV SE/...
I need a female jazz vocalist. No Krall, No Norah
Ella by a wide margin, simply the best: perfect diction, impeccable timing, subtle "bending' of tunes; purity of timber, great swing, ... I could go on ...and on. Next on my list would be Billie followed by Sarah (Sarah had great range and style b...
Is vinyl dead ?
This is a dated question. Audio Advisor does not comprise the world of analog. You need to look at alternate sites that support analog. I would say that although we are in the "digital age" a lover of analog music can find a larger selection of go...
ZYX Fuji vs. Lyra Helicon
Thomasheisig:I guess I do not have "..a good phono stage which is silent...". Your ranting is based purely on "hearsay" from some "importer". It is incredible how willing you are to take the word of an importer over the manufacturer. My point is si...
ZYX Fuji vs. Lyra Helicon
Thomasheisig, I disagree. I have owned several Lyras. The manufacturer's instructions for the Helikon recommends loading values from 10 - 47k ohms. 47K was not specifically recommended by the manufacturer. However, the higher values could produce ...
Anyone Bi-amping with tube high & solid state lows
I am biamping my MG 3.5s with a Marchand 126s (Balanced I/O) active x-over. I am using ARC VT100 MKII for the treble/midrange and Kenwood L07 monoblocks for the bass panels. The results are incredible. Careful selection of output levels and x-over...
