Help me put together a $1000 (give or take) headphone rig -- new or used
wouldn't something like the Schiit Valhalla, or even the lyr with the DAC module be something to look at both would leave you more then enough for a good set of phones.I also like the idea of using a bluesound node as a streamer DAC.  I've been ha...
McIntosh Tube amps or Solid State?? Advices needed!!
"Tubes cost really money"I like that statement as not many people admit to the extra cost of owning tube amps. I have tube amps and have spent this year alone $1300 in tubes. and probably will do the same next year or early year following, preamp ...
Accuphase PX-600
I have not heard that specific amp but I have heard a few of their class A and class AB designs and they are very good. maybe over priced here in NA new, but some of the nicest engineered equipment anywhere. them and Luxman are big rivals in Japan...
How can I improve SQ of my Dell desktop/Roon set up?
I'm thinking your bottle neck is your computer. you may want to try a USB isolation device as an inexpensive option to see if that helps. I know of one off the top of my head from Schiit Audio there are many others though. USB in USB out, USB in c...
Oli for Jelco tonearm
may want to get a hold of Audio Sensibility they are a Jelco dealer-importer. damping fluid for $20 by the way. https://audiosensibility.com/blog/accessories/jelco-tonearm-store/jelco-tonearm-accessories/
Where do I start!?!
I'm not sure why you think selling off something will require him to buy some "Junk" Elizabeth. regardless of the prices involved, as that's irrelevant as all used equipment has taken the depreciation hit. Who's to say he can't trade in his mono b...
Where do I start!?!
I have to agree with a few here talk to your father and see if he minds you selling the equipment and upgrading to a nice integrated amp -  smaller separates and speakers. I hope he will understand that your just optimizing the system to your room...
Record weight for Garrard 301
Garrard plinths are evenly dished from the edge to the center so a record clamp-weight actually pushes the record evenly onto the whole plinth and doesn't lift the edges. if you put something under the center to lift it, it will only cause voids i...
Thinking of buying a new DAC - Shiit Yggdrasil?
I am being blown away by the Grungnir Multi Bit right now so I'd say yes to Schiit. another popular option is the Cord DAC's.
High efficiency monitors for SET amp in small room - budget 2.5k
AudioNote speakers are much more tube friendly then you think they state 94db but your correct with slightly lower spec at around 92db.  I drove my ANE's with 8wpc and they were very nice. also AudioNote is a tube amp manufacturer and  your amp i...
Phono stage for my system?
second the Gold Note ph10. if wanting to spend much less for a rather surprising phono stage look at the Ifi Audio Iphono2 at <$500 its a killer phono stage with surprising adjustability for future carts.
A moderate priced dac
Schitt Audio go there look at the DAC’s they have and pic a Multibit DAC and enjoy. I have a Grungnir mb and am very impressed. I say Multi bit as its really quite organic sounding IMO compared to the delta sigma DAC’s. Bifrost is right in the mi...

Record weight for Garrard 301
I would not be concerned I use a record weight and have no ill effects just better focus and more detail. The concave is rather mild on the Gerrard's and when you listening to both sides it evens out. I use a Project record puck (weight) on my Gar...
static Issues...anybody know why?
another easy way to dissipate an electric charge is using a carbon brush that has a grounding cable on it. Oracle (the record player co)made a model years ago not sure if there are others out there, but my oracle brush works wonders to remove stat...
