Do people buy MAC gear for the blue meters
I think McIntosh earnestly considers the addition of the meters on it's product. For those buying any upscale product many factors come into play. For audio gear, the sound, the touch and built quality are some of the those.Love the meters on my M...
Considering analog...but nervous
Before you or any one goes for it, treat yourself to a day trip and fine some audio store or audiophile friend somewhere within two hour drive and listen to a good analog set up. If it really impresses you great. You may want to buy new and not ha...
Looking for speakers
Under radar for now, Daber Audio speakers, the Monitors 3's at least will need stands of some type. I switch these out with VSA 4Jr's, they are that good. Will you be using a sub even if you do not employ surround sound?
New digital i-everything dock from Cambridge Audio
Thanks for the head up, it looks promising and should have good build and sound quality. It would be a real plus if it had the streaming as well. Boy have I gotten lazy:].
What equipment do you most regret parting with??
Yamaha CR 1040 receiver. Sound, build and looks, it had it all. Had long moved on, giving it to my sister. But is was so nice I have come to regret it. I could have easily used it in a secondary system.
Best surprisingly good value component
The new Daber audio monitor 3 speakers, they give my VSA a real run for the money for way less, That and my McIntosh MA 6600, it is so awesome that despite the relative high cost, it seems worth every penny and more. Both real keepers.
Who R U?
Great to see such varied persons into audio. I am a 55 year old broadcast technician living in NJ with a wive and two kids in college. Oh, I can not wait for them to graduate and get their lives under way. Maybe I will then have money again for ev...
Best bargain you've ever missed out
After selling my old car, put the funds towards the purchase of a 60 inch plasma television. But shortly afterwards came across a McIntosh 252 amp which a few cosmetic issues but really great price. The prices of tv's have come down, while good au...
What I learned on Audiogon This Year
The West Coast seems to have more audiophiles then the East Coast. Despite checking the site everyday, I am always a day late on the best deals.Whatever I buy someones lists a better buy afterwards.Whatever I list for sale, someone lists theirs ch...
Best Hobby related purchase of 2010
Pair of Daber Audio Monitor 3 speakers. In cherry and a cherry of a deal. Got them before they really hit the market thus saved over half. But price not withstanding they have proved too be astounding.Stand for my family room wide screen and stere...
The Hub: Holidays gifts for yourself, or a friend.
Does the iStreamer access the digital out of the ipod as opposed to the headphone out? If so, it would be like the Wadia ipod dock. Now that would really be cool, only downside would be it not charging the ipod. I could not quite tell my info on t...
seeking turntable recommendations
Ask yourself do you mind getting up at the end of each record. If yes, then Thorens or Dual perhaps a few other brands that offer good sound as well. If not many roads and forums that will guide you. Good hunting.
James Louspeakers
Own just one James loudspeaker using it as a center channel speaker. Tops in every way. Easily on par with my VSA speakers in sound and perhaps even better in build. They are great music reproducers. Should I ever have need of more speakers, James...

Do you listen alone or with guest s
Ninety seven percent of the time I listen alone. I only wish the wife and kids would like to take advantage of my primary system. The benefit of doing shift work at times however is being able to listen alone. It is a double edged sword in fosteri...
