What is your favorite 1 hit wonder from the 70's? Hello Bvdiman - Must confess I wasn't familiar with Johnnie Wilder. (back in the day, more into hard rock than R&B or "Soul"). I checked out the link you posted. Regardless of category, talent is talent and that man had a gift. Beautiful voice...
What is your favorite 1 hit wonder from the 70's? Hey again - always liked, "Funkytown". Check this one out. Might bring back some memories.William De Vaughn, "Be Thankful for What You Got". http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7qSION3MWDM&feature=related

What is your favorite 1 hit wonder from the 70's? Not necessarily my one and only one and only but certainlyh worth recalling, Blues Image's "Ride Captain Ride". Don't think I saw that posted previously.
I'd probably lose this bet.... Baba- I'm not a gambler so I'll decline your proposal. But, if claims about speaker wire are jammin' up your brain, wait 'til you get a load of posts about power cords making a difference. I am not an EE, I am not encumbered by electronics theory ...
Do the laser cleaning CDs do anything? Recently got an RCA/Discwasher cleaner for CD/DVD laser lens. It is a dry system. No fluids involved. There are several tiny brushes at various positions around the disc penetrating and perpendicular to the shiny side of the CD). At a price of $15...
Fav. recordings that fell flat in a hi-end system Wasn't "Seeds of Love" the "single" from that recording? Don't know nuthin' but seems like compression (as in squeeze the life out it) is part and parcel for the "lucky" HIT SINGLE.
What do audiophiles listen in their cars? Not being sarcastic...But on long drives, very often...just the engine, road noise and the wind.
Admiral Television? I got nothing for you about the guitar playing on "War Babies". Just wanted to say, this is a great thread. Wish all the stuff on A'gon was as collaborative and positive. FWIW now I gotta buy "War Babies" and "A Wizard a True Star" not to mention ...
Good amp for Tekton lore s speakers? Agree with the room treatment suggestions. But how old are the Lores? Not looking at the website just now but my recollection is these are pretty high efficiency speakers. Bass lacking might just be a function of needing longer time to break them ...
Looking for hi value CD/SACD player... Again - thanks all for your thoughts and time. Rumors of the Denon's demise were premature. I'd made some boneheaded/wrong connections at the preamp. Now that things are corrected the need to replace this Upgrade Co. modified CDP is not so pressin...
Looking for hi value CD/SACD player... Thanks to everyone for the suggestions.
does your system "warm up" and then sound better? I leave ss components on 24/7 (in low power "sleep" mode if available). Tubes I fire up at least 30 minutes before I start listening. I do think things sound better after listening an hour or so. Theo's observation about cartridge performance is i...
Donald Fagen-Sunken Condos Hey Wolf - don't get me wrong. I am very much aboard the Steely Dan/Becker/Fagen bandwagon! Mediocre from them is only so by comparison to the better/best stuff of their own work. I do have to say I don't always have a "sterile" reaction to their ... |
