Jazz for aficionados
Orpheus & Rok2id - hopefully not completely hijacking this thread but possibly taking it on a little off road excursion that iwill get it back to your intended course in short order....The recent exchange about "rap" reminded me of something I...
Solid Maple vs Butcher Block
FWIW- From Totem Forests on carpet over concrete (Totem uses this claw and ball arrangement instead of spikes), went to 2" thick Timbernation maple on heavy (18x18") Travertine tile under each Forest. Travertine directly on carpet. A definite impr...
One artist, band, you keep coming back to
Well, it's more than one if that's OK (even if not, I suppose)...Dylan, Steely Dan (+ any solo Becker or Fagen), Crowded House (+ solo Neil and/or Tim), & Wilco. These are musicians/bands whose next releasees I generally buy without audition. ...
Best rock bass player
Max - ah a kindred spirit...playing Mountain from various You Tube as I write. I know of Jaco but not really familiar with his work (I do have Hejira). Will have to check our Saunders & Hook. Thanks.
Best rock bass player
Add Felix Pappalardi to the list of greats.
Best rock bass player
Lot's of very good bass players listed. I especially like Chris Squire and Greg Lake. BUT for me, there's only one "best": Jack Bruce.

Ok. Got it. Thanks yet again.
Closing music to Dylan & The Band DVD...
Thanks Casey. Yup...finally found it and ordered the M&A soundtrack from Amazon for like $5 bucks. Mainly for that one song - BUT there's other good music on the CD too. Were you intending to say DITF is NOT live (just sounds that way)?Still w...
Have you heard or own the Shakti Hallograph
Eliz - maybe you can rob Geoff K. since he must have bags of $ given his quality products and genius marketing. Short of a high risk target like Fort Knox, GK seems like a no-brainer to me. Just kidding, of course. Far be it from me to encourage a...
Established Artists: Hidden Gems/Classic Rock
Nanbil - You think The Who's - Quadrophenia; YES' - CTTE; Styx's - Grand Illusion ; Genesis' - Selling England... qualify as per the OP's intro???!Yeesh!! I never followed sales when these LPs were first released so can't compare their numbers to ...
What reviews do you trust if any?
TNT Audio - FWIW. Also agree with those citing Stereo Mojo & Dagogo.
KAB EV-1 users?
I've been using the KAB EV-1 for a few years now. It was affordable and it works. Noticeable noise reduction on various LPs. I use a DIY water/alcohol/detergent mix for initial cleaning, then vacuum off. Finish w/steam and vacuum again. Repeat on ...
Miles Davis "Kind of Blue" drove me insane almost
...and here I thought it was spit rattling around in Miles' trumpet.
need suggestion for external CD ripping drive
Folks- Anyone have experience with Plextor's "PlexEasy"CD wtiter? It does not require a PC. Curious if the write speed is too fast to improve on SQ from red book (though I realize that's not the only factor contributing to better sound on "ripped"...
Power Cord up to $100?
Dhcod, Hopefully you are already aware of this from other threads - getting the plugs lined up at either end of a Pangea 9 can be a bit like wrestling an Anaconda. But worth the effort and they do look good IMO.
