What's in your CDP tonight? the minority report
For the record  :-) Nutty's responsible for the Dalton Santos "discovery".In addition to revisiting Santos' "The Inner Things" (way short at only 28 minutes) listening to more Bunny Brunel in the fusion supergroup CAB.  The album CAB 4 features Ch...

Re Dalton Santos, "Glad we found that one." Too generous...it was you posted the Santos You Tube vid, nutty. Great stuff. Tracking down more Bunny Brunel and came across some albums by CAB (Chambers, maAlpine, & Brunel). On CAB4, supposedly th...

@nuttyDigging into Dalton Santos’ "The Inner Things" tonight.Been listening to a lot of fusion lately. Seems like Santos’ music falls into that category. Thanks for recommending him. Great SQ on the recording. Songs that are interesting and musica...
What speaker cable made a major difference in the sound quality of your speakers??
@jbrrp1 - several of the second paragraph points from your excellent commentary exactly mirror my own experience with the Clear Days...- equivalent to a component upgrade- detailed without crossing the line- a tad warm -- surprising for silver- a ...
What speaker cable made a major difference in the sound quality of your speakers??
Another tip of the hat for Paul Laudati's Clear Day Double Shotguns.  Jaw dropping?  Not sure about that.  But way better??  Definitely, yes.  At least to my ears.  Very happy with them (initially used; later new when I needed a longer run) based ...
What amp do you use with your passive pre?
Interesting to read Mechans suggestion.  I'm using a Schiit Freya (can be operated in pure passive, JFET buffered or 6SN7 tube mode) with a Taranis Class D.  Have also used it with the Cyber 800SE mono blocks that Mechans mentioned.  With either a...
New in 2017
I have to agree with gpgr4blu's assessment of Bob Dylan's standards releases.  No one else could get away with such.  While I respect his desire to honor this song canon that he loves, the results are kind of cringe-inducing...leastways are for me...
Now this brings a new meaning...
Given the April 1st date, I thought it might be an April Fool's joke by MoFi or even Mike and Jason.  Apparently not.  I do enjoy Schiit's attitude.  http://schiit.com/schiitr
Brightest but shortest artistic bursts in the sky
Ah, okay 2channel8...I had different criteria for my picks. High quality coupled with short career (in terms of years) regardless of output volume during that time. Hits (or not) weren’t a determinant of quality, for me.Sandy Denny required no exp...
Brightest but shortest artistic bursts in the sky
Never understood the "reviewer hate" directed at The Knack.Don’t understand, either, how Procol Harum fits here, 2channel8 (Also, Big Head Todd...they have a pretty extensive discography and are still out there touring)Great call on Sandy Denny, d...
Sorbathane under granite slabs for speaker bases?
Always good to experiment, ahahitoro.  Plain granite now doesn't eliminate the possibility of later trying some wood in between.  To answer your question...yes, I use the spikes as well.  With the Silverline Preludes, I use the spikes they supply ...
Sorbathane under granite slabs for speaker bases?
I guess the question is whether to drain or isolate.  Personally, I've avoided visco-elastic stuff under speakers.   Expect others have opposite experience to share.I'm using hardwood (3"?) plinths directly under speakers.  Hardwood resting on lar...
Class D is just Dandy!
Happy to see a thread "celebrating" this technology.  I have a Taranis Class D power amp from Merrill Audio.   Apart from the sheer power this thing supplies, I'm very impressed with the quality of bass from Totem Forests when driven by it. I thin...
