I second your Sol Do Meio Dia Egberto Gismonti recommendation, Orpheus. A great musician lineup too as you point out.  In the unlikely event you are not familiar with them, check out his work with Haden and Garbarek...namely Magico & Folk Song...

The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway
@rackon You are welcome.  There's some discussion about "best" Lamb releases on Steve Hoffman forums.  Just a word of caution, "hideous" was applied by at least one poster to the 2008 release; other uncomplimentary comments there as well.  I don't...

F-man, I agree with you yet again...at least your comments about the quality of the musicians who recorded Hudson and the (advisability?) of "assuming merit". I’ll likely go back and give that one another go. ON THE OTHER HAND...the influence of J...

Huh...album of the month. No wonder Amazon has been recommending it. Great album cover art but the title track is a tough opening act...leastways was for me. O - I can’t give you a rating this soon. Takes a few listens to this "style" to find out ...
Gutwire Perfect Grounding Cable
r-11 Contribution of an audible and beneficial effect by way of shorter path to ground does seem unlikely. Appears to be something (easily?) tried out via DIY. I’m guessing only the ground pin of the AC plug is connected and that to the negative/g...
Gutwire Perfect Grounding Cable
@randy-11Gutwire's explanation from the 6 Moons review (see link here)...http://www.6moons.com/audioreviews2/gutwire/1.html "Q: How does your grounding cable work and why is it necessary?A: Our ground cable provides the shortest path to ground fro...
The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway
Digital heretic and Genesis fan that I am (and at the risk of offending tablejockey’s analog sensibilities)...https://www.discogs.com/Genesis-The-Lamb-Lies-Down-On-Broadway/release/1894207’IT’ :-) is a great recording; music as gripping now as whe...

Warm Sounding Cable
The Cable Co. is your friend if you have the time. Talk to Steve about what you’ve got and are trying to do. He’ll hook you up. 5% rental fee for all you audition + shipping. If you buy, that total 5% goes against the cost of what you buy. No ship...
Schiit Eitr with Aurender N100H
dpetr - Interesting to read your history with these converters. What surprised me was that things definitely sounded better using the Aries Mini USB into the V-Link and then coax out to the Gungnir (bought open box without USB input). That is to s...
Schiit Eitr with Aurender N100H
@dpetr Thanks very much, dpetr.  Exactly the info I was interested in.  Appreciate you taking the time.  I didn't know that Mutec device you mentioned.  ! Wow when I looked that up.  I'm guessing that's in another league from Singxer or Eitr.  I u...
Schiit Eitr with Aurender N100H
@dpetr Glad Schiit took care of that situation for you.I’m interested in this Eitr, myself. Currently using a V-Link 192 USB/SDPDIF converter and happy with it. It sounds better than running coax out of an Aries Mini directly into the Gungnir DAC....
Preamp for ATC SCM 19v2 and Merrill Thor mono's?
@admranger    Sorry, wasn't me on the Oppo mod suggestion.  Was Soix.Good luck in your search.  (Do try to "stick to your guns" about something balanced.  I think it will pay sonic dividends.)
Preamp for ATC SCM 19v2 and Merrill Thor mono's?
Ah. I understand. That sort of input can definitely detract from the listening experience. (Now I’ve become curious what sort of pre-amp gear she does find attractive.) Obviously, if cosmetic considerations have to be factored in, these will of ne...
