Fun With Cable Risers
All the really great systems I have heard use cable lifters. I put mine in thirty years ago. They are ceramic, like or are for high voltage power lines. They cost maybe $20 each. I had read articles about the magnetic fields around cables and the ...
Anybody own a component that sounds better with the cover off?
Audio Research has experimented and changed their top and bottom plates for their non amp components a number of times moving from metal grates to the smoked plastic because they sound better.

@bob540.  Sounds like that TT is the source of noise. I understand where you are at. Understand your history. Mine was similar until I started upgrading my turntable… admittedly a long time ago. But the albums that were warn and dirty from my teen...
Speaker brands known to use first class internal components
I really love Sonus Fabre speakers (over $10K), I have owned 3 separate pair. In each case the incredible workmanship and sound has made them seem like a good deal. Especially my current pair at $32K.
Cable recommendations for my new (preowned) system...
The Cable Company has a used cable site. Most cables are 50%.Given your equipment I would recommend all copper which would not overly highlight the treble and generally be a little warmer. I would not spend a lot of money… say less than $50 per se...

Really, I would think you would hear here better with her top on.

What kind of TT are you using… if there is rumble that points to a big problem problem with the TT. There sound be no noise at any frequency. Also, if you really want the warm tubey sound a tube amplifier (one known to be tubey) will also be required.

I understand your point. But most speakers over $5K are heavily reviewed and hopefully you have been able to audition them as well. If they sound great to you and have been professionally reviewed then does it matter? I am not trying to dismiss yo...

OP congratulations. It is always great to get a new piece of equipment. The reputation for “mellow” sound comes from tube implementations of long ago where they tended to be rolled off at the top but with huge midrange bloom. Modern implementations...
Budget Phono preAmp
I have not used the Schiit phono stage but judging by my experience with their DACs and amps I would recommend it.
Small Room... Big Stereo
Great system. I assume the general placement is governed by the doors and the room parameters. Assume speakers go on from the front wall out by a couple feet and in from the side wall by a three feet as a starting placement. A triangle puts your s...
tablets
I would say the headphones first. The power required to drive headphones varies widely as does the sound quality. I have driven headphones for many years with an iPad and iPhone. I have not compared to a kindle. But I would wager a good bit of mon...

Let’s start at the beginning:For digital playback-> Streamer -> DAC -> Preamp ->amp-> speakersFor analog playback-> turntable-> phono stage -> Preamp-> amp -> speakersThe preamp connects the two sources… it is a switc...
SF Amati vs Serafino
I went from Olympica 3 with 2 subs to Amati Traditional in my 24’ x 32’ room. The difference was spectacular. These are correctly sized for my room. Sounds like the Serafino might be the right size for room. But it is highly room dependent and the...

@audioelevations In your situation I would share your frustration. Life is too short to have people waste your time. As you get older, you have less of it to If they are too busy, or what ever the excuse, I go somewhere else.
