Looking for streamer I recommend Aurender. I have used a bunch of inexpensive streamers and a Auralic Aries G2.. then the SQ got really good when I got my first Aurrender (N100). After auditioning a N10 I bought a W20SE. Highly recommended.
Dealer Called.."Your Speakers are In" Congratulations. It is great being happily impressed by new equipment.
Forum admiration and requested guidance Congratulations for getting to this point in life. Honestly, great time to splurge on something you love. I’m a bit older… but I upgraded a few years before retiring so I could really enjoy it. I did! Then I was really lucky to be able to make a c...
Blue Lights Great question. Nearly all of my stuff used to be blue except for my Sim Moon DAC that had really bright red… it bothered me… but still I never actually thought of adding that to my criteria for equipment. Fortunately it solved itself, I now have ...
One big reason why brick and mortar high end audio dealers struggle. The internet has given tremendous opportunity to younger and less well healed audiophiles. If you have more time and learn to research well you can save a ton of money and have orders of more choices than from a dealer. Like MC says there is a lim...
One big reason why brick and mortar high end audio dealers struggle. I understand your frustration. I remember back in the 80’s and 90’s I used to go to high-end stores to audition systems way out of my price range. I hoped for no other customers. The sales people would quickly figure out I couldn’t afford the stuf...
I did the right thing after all. Congratulations. It is great acquiring a product you really like. For much of my audio past I used carefully chosen speakers that cost something like 5% of the rest of my system. Great electronics can make the right speakers sound spectacular.
Two surprising things I found that improved my imaging and staging... Congratulations. Speaker placement is a big deal and getting it right is really rewarding. Depending on the room and speakers 1/8th inch change can make a big difference. Glad it is going well!
Seeing sounds and music..... First off, I have very similar musical experiences… I think. I usually close my eyes and get taken off in a musical geometric light show that I see in my mind’s eye. It ebbs and flows with the music. It becomes an all encompassing experience… no d...
Budget High Current Power Cords OPI think you are taking away the right thing. Power cords like interconnects and cables depend on your system. There are all sorts of different approaches. Intuition or a single design approach is seldom the determinant of what will sound good in...
Preamp Opinion @bcool57”Trust me! If I built it, you would not want to listen to it😂”That would be me also. I am a big picture kind of guy. I don’t touch turntables or take things apart, they would never sound good again. But tube preamps… incredibly reliable. I ...
Best SS Amp - Pass Labs X350.8 vs. Luxman M900u vs. Ayre VX-R Twenty I owned a Pass x350 for fifteen years… actually amps designed by Pass for 35 years. When I needed to upgrade, extensive research and listening would always bring me back to Pass. Wonderfully neutral and powerful, excellent transients and micro dyn...
RCA vs XLR and Balanced vs Unbalanced The primary determinant of which will sound better is how the equipment is designed (balanced or not… as MC and others have noted), The manufacturers might tell you which is better… but the reality is the difference… particularly if your equipment...
Preamp Opinion I would tend to agree that the Rogue is best most natural sounding and detailed, without being bright preamp on your list. I would think it would match your current system well. If on the other hand your aspirations over the longer term you might ...
Frequency response while streaming stops at 15kHz- did I miss something in the fine print? While you may not hear above 15khz, the overall effect on the music can be significant. After decades of working on my system, and own Heils and other planar speakers I realized that the real high frequency has a profound impact on the overall sou... |
