Digital Path to Complete my System
You have chosen a good time to add a digital end. I have been trying to get digital to sound as good as analog for… well since digital began. A few years ago I was finally able to do that. You can see my systems under my ID. Great idea of one and...
Do You Have to Play a Component to Warm it Up?
Typically you do no have to have music playing through it. An exception is the Audio Research Reference 5(SE) preamp. The Reference 6(SE) does not. Beats me why the Ref 5 was like that.
Did anyone return a PSAudio Powerplant? Why?
Great question. Sure not getting many folks jumping in who have returned them.
Totem Forrest - old but still good
I have a ten year old set of Mites in my office… great sounding, cost effective, beautiful speakers. Glad to see Forest still available.
The joys of mid-fi
@immatthewj If I understand your comment. Yes, all that detail must be there, we agree on that. My comment centers around proportionality between different sounds. I have heard many systems where, say the cymbles stuck out like a solo instrument...
Warm, yet detailed tube preamp
Used Audio Research or Conrad Johnson.
Looking for RCA cables from preamp to amp?
Here are a few technical references to cable materials and constructions. I haven’t read them in a while. I’m just pulling them from my list of references that I put together a few years ago. I am looking for one that details the microcapacitor na...
Vibration Control
Maybe this is useful, from an AI.   Vibration reduction and control in high-end audio systems can improve sound quality by minimizing the negative effects of unwanted vibrations on the performance of audio components. Vibration can cause various...
Power Sensitive Components
OP,   I’ll be really interested to hear the results with the powerplant. Hopefully for you it will completely solve the problem. Fingers crossed.
The joys of mid-fi
@immatthewj You are correct, my systems do produce great detail, however they do so proportionally. By that, I mean if you listen for them the details are there, just not in your face. In the same way that if you listen in a quiet symphony hall ...
Why I don't hear bass drums on Jazz LPs?
@bdp24    Wow. Thanks. That is really interesting.
The joys of mid-fi
You bring up a good question. For me the answer lies in what kind of system have you built and are you listening to the system or the performance. For much of my history I was driven by my ability to analyze and hear more detail and nuance… in the...
Issue with Audio Research 5SE Preamp
@cleeds @djcxxx  +1
Vibration Control
Good question. I sure do not know, but it sure does.
Best streamer to replace my Mac Mini?
I have also owned Aurlic in addition to Aurrender. I had an Aries G2. I was disappointed in the sound quality and I struggled to keep it on line. It has a “reboot nightly setting”… with mine, that was not enough. Once I got an Aurrender it was roc...
