Need Advice on a Low End CD Player Giant Killer
Wrong forum but.Anyone s/h that uses an R2R Ladder Multibit dac a PCM1702 or even better a PCM1704 dac chip. Do your home work from this massive list for which uses what.Cheers Georgehttp://vasiltech.narod.ru/CD-Player-DAC-Transport.htm
Any comments on DAC directly to Power amp with no
08-18-15: Hgeifman I am not going to run my DAC direct into my integrated amplifier. I have been told that most DAC’s do not supply as much drive as a properly designed preamplifier.Don't want to stir up a debate, but whoever told you this about y...

I built an AD1955 dac based on AD Evaluation Board, and they are made very nice. here is a pic of the one I made up years ago. So the AD5791 should be just as well made.http://www.diyaudio.com/forums/digital-source/227677-using-ad844-i-v-34.html#p...
Metrum Pavane NOS DAC
I looked at my AD account and AD has an AD5791 Evaluation Board complete up and ready to go, available for around $150usd all you need is power and a chassis and be an account holder and you have your own dac.http://www.google.com.au/url?sa=t&...

Hgeifman hi, Your Ayre QB-9 DSD DAC (if it has volume/level control) from it's single ended outputs at 71ohms and 2v will be a perfect impedance match going direct into the single ended 42kohm "main in" on your of your Luxman L-590ax. This will gi...

Yes, sorry you are right, back on topic. Sometimes we can get off on the tech side of things just as much as the final sound of them. Then the embryo of the final sound is the tech side.?Oh dear now I've got a headache.Cheers George

A few of the "gurus" say it has a problem with dynamic accuracy?http://www.diyaudio.com/forums/digital-line-level/275444-most-accurate-r2r-nos-dac.html#post4350335http://www.diyaudio.com/forums/digital-line-level/275444-most-accurate-r2r-nos-dac-2...

I think I see now, this may have been done before on other dac chips, I think with those who understand it, say it's a hybrid? Part low res R2R ladder Multibit, part Delta Sigma? Would this dac then do you think be tarred with the same brush? If th...
Metrum Pavane NOS DAC
So are you saying Al that this dac is a real R2R Ladder Multibit dac, that can output volts even though it's high impedance (rather than being current output) with no I/V stage involved?Cheers George
Metrum Pavane NOS DAC
Sorry Al, I misunderstood your post. As to no experimentation with any I/V stages, as I originally posted with this dac. As great leaps have been made with I/V stages (away from the norm) and this dac doesn't allow this. As it would have standard ...

Sorry Al Separate Buffer? or separate I/V then buffer??Correct me if I'm wrong. As from what I saw there were no current (mA) output figures given for it's output, which all manufactures give for current output dacs. Also Look at page 26 Positive i...
Cary 805 vs v12
After all the hype back then on these, I decided to make my own pair of monoblocks way back then, at back breaking 35kg each even with aluminium chassis, also feedback adjustable, and very high quality transformers, power, output, chokes, and inte...
Cary 805 vs v12
More info delving into the history of this fine? tube amp, I found this quote from Sam Tellig this time when he talked to Dennis Had of Cary."The original CAD-805 had four tubes—three in the signal path. Starting as the signal came in, a single 6S...
Metrum Pavane NOS DAC
From what I quickly saw on the data sheet of the ad5791 it has voltage outputs, not current, which usually means it has it's own I/V stage built in.Cheers George
Cary 805 vs v12
There's one pair in Australia with 805 tubes, maybe it was modded to take them? owned by Robert ? the guy who bought the Eichmann cable and bullet plugs rights from Eichmann then on sold it. Maybe it was the prototype who knows?Cheers George
