Seeking technician for in-home troublehsooting - dome tweeter hiss
It could be the input transistors have gone noisy on the Krell, but first off try it all without the power conditioner, and unplug it as well from the mains. BTW if testing without anything plugged into the Krell, you should always use shorting rc...

These tests are measured by Sound & Vision and HT Labs, and you’ll nearly always find that in depth tests differ sometimes quite a lot to the average mean specs manufactures print, you just need to look at Stereophiles in depth bench test and ...
Understanding low-frequency reproduction....room or speaker
bcgator davehrab, I want to clarify something - and I think George had the same idea - the bass response I’m getting, and the resonance, is absolutely not a problem.  It’s not something I’m trying to cure, or eliminate.   I think you probably luck...
Understanding low-frequency reproduction....room or speaker
maplegrovemusicHow does one isolate the speakers from a "suspended" floor ? Thought that’s what the spikes are for .Many get this confused, spikes couple the speaker or stand to the floor, this is fine for cement slab floors, and the best. But wit...
Who tried Class D only to return to S/S or Tube
Once again I ask you the question, simple yes or no will suffice."Your saying is that there will be no higher switching frequency developed in the near future for Class D and what's now being used is enough"???Cheers George

Your saying is that there will be no higher switching frequency developed in the near future, because there is no issue with at the moment, you need to re-think that one big time, seriously. Cheers George

Can it be enhanced further?Yes it can and soon I think, and I'll be there when it does, as soon as I see the technology about to become available from the big multinational component manufacturers, to supply the Class D manufacturers with. I'll ge...
New preamp, loss of low freq.?
If he can get the levels he wants to listen at, there is no problem with "output" voltage from the preamp. Cheers George

The switching frequency guidocorona, may be 520khz, but it’s the amplitude as well of it not just the frequency and has to be filtered at the end with all that rms power by low order filters that have to take that power. From what I’ve been told b...

Well said Mapman, I myself am not ready yet as I outlined, but once the new (let's call it 2nd generation)  far higher switching technology happens, I'm jumping in with both feet, compared to my setup at the moment the bass/upper bass of todays go...

Tested the Sonus Faber Toy Tower is 87db and has Impedance reaches a minimum of 4.96 ohms at 141 Hz and a phase angle of –56.28 degrees at 69 Hz. Which means it still needs an amp that is a good current deliverer to get the best out of the bass. C...
New preamp, loss of low freq.?
lowrider57 hi. Just one example, just about every piece of gear cdp, dacs, preamp and amps made by Krell is dc coupled. And there are many many others ss brands that do too. Tubes are a different story "most" tubes amps, cdp, dacs and preamps are ...
Understanding low-frequency reproduction....room or speaker
First of all you need to look at the way speakers need to be supported correctly on the floor or if they are on stands.Never spike a speaker (floor stander)or (stand mount) into a suspended floor, as you only make that floor a sound board for the ...
New preamp, loss of low freq.?
"Will output put volts have something to do w it?"No they both have enough volts, unless you had to turn them up full volume only still not to get to your listening level you wanted."I'm getting from the preamp is remarkable to say the least. Mids...

Out of the s/h cheap list you posted, I would go the Krell KVA-300i as it will drive speakers with harder loads than the others. But if you can go a bit further than the $1700 for a new or S/H one then this would be even better I believe.http://www...
